Zara - love
Camilla (Milla) - like camilla, milla is very nice, how about camille?
Allegra - dislike
Theodora (Thea or Teddy) - love thea, teddy is cute, dislike theodora
Octavia - cute but hard to pull off maybe? It's one of those names that would be on my own list but I wouldn't be brave enough to use it
Ottillie (spelling?) - love
Bea (Beatrice) - dislike, I'm not a fan of old fashioned names
Kinvara - very unusual, dont think I like it
Darcy - I do like it but ... (deep breath haha) theres something a tad chavvy about it
Bella perhaps Isabella - Isabella is nice but I wouldn't choose it personally, not keen on bella
Cordelia - ok but v posh, not my fave

Freddie - dislike
Henry (although surname starts with H) - really like
Theodore (Theo) - love
Milo - love
Louis - it's ok but not my fave

How about:
Alice
Freya
Aurelia

Sebastian
Arlo
Rory
Rowan

Out your list I like Zara the best

GreyBirds · 10/05/2019 23:51

Xanthe gives me similar vibes to Zara. Also, maybe Zinnia, Zosia, Vita, Cosima.

Beatrice is my favourite out of your list. The only one I don’t love is K names just sometimes seem tacky to me.

Like all your boys names but prefer Miles to Milo myself.

GreyBirds · 10/05/2019 23:53

Sorry, meant to say the only one I don’t love is Kinvara because I don’t like K names!

Ex28 · 10/05/2019 23:58

I like Allegra and Octavia.
Also like Henry, Freddie and Milo.

NuffSaidSam · 11/05/2019 04:34

I like Zara and Bea.

Bella and Darcey are ok.

I'm not keen on Camilla, Allegra, Theodora,
Octavia, Ottillie or Cordelia. They're all perfectly good names, just too 'fussy' for my taste.

I've never heard of Kinvara. It doesn't seem to go with the others.

How about:

Hermione
Persephone
Aurelia
Marnie
Jemima
Juliette
Cecily
Anastasia

I like all the boys names. My favourite is Milo.

How about:

Aaron
James
Lucas
Jonathan
William
Thomas
Sebastian
Gideon
David
Marcus

Adelaide
Ophelia
Matilda
Jemima
Cecily
Violet
Meredith
Tabitha
Viola

Oscar
Alfie
Reuben
Rory
Toby

Ricekrispie22 · 11/05/2019 06:07

Lyra
Cassandra
Cressida
Clarissa

Zara- Very nice.
Camilla (Milla) - OK but I don't love it.
Allegra - no
Theodora (Thea or Teddy) like with nn Thea for a girl
Octavia - no
Ottillie (spelling?) - no
Bea (Beatrice) - no but I could cope with Trixie as a nn
Kinvara - no
Darcy - bad associations
Bella perhaps Isabella - Far to overdone
Cordelia - OK prefer Cora

How about Mary, Maria, Alice, Mauve, Emmeline or Elizabeth?

Freddie - like
Henry (although surname starts with H) don't mind, surname starting with H not necessarily a bad thing
Theodore (Theo) ok just very popular and a bit overdone
Milo - ok
Louis - quite like.

How about Edmund, Luca, Micheal or James?

Whatwillhappentomorrow · 11/05/2019 06:09

-too

MerryMarigold · 11/05/2019 06:15

I like Kinvara the best, just because I've never heard of it but it's pretty and not so 'I'm trying to give my child a posh name' (apart from Darcy and Bella which are very common round my area). I'm not getting one vibe from your names, so hard to suggest. Eleanor?

Pegaroo · 11/05/2019 06:45

The ones on your list I don’t like are Allegra, Kinvara, Bella and Darcy the others are lovely x

Sparklysunflower · 11/05/2019 08:49

Love Zara and Beatrice.

For a boy how about
Xavier
Quentin
Caspar

SaltyDogs · 11/05/2019 21:57

Thanks all. Pretty set on Zara or Milla for a girl.

Still stuck on boys. Our top are:
Freddie
Xander (but would mean calling him Alexander and I don't want to risk him becoming an Alex as got a fairly close child relative with that name and I'd only be choosing it for Xander)
Casper (but unsure because of friendly ghost connotations!)
I also love Henry, Hugo, Hugh but we have decided not to do HH initials as there are so many alliterations in our very close family already.
Sebastian

...but unsure about all our boys names so any other ideas of traditional but not overused. Not too pompous though - Quentin pushes it for us- sorry! We aren't easy...

Antonin · 11/05/2019 22:57

I think if you call him Xander and he answers to that you won’t have a problem with him being called Alex. Your DS will put people right if he’s called that in error.

Lavenderblues · 11/05/2019 22:59

I find Sebastian much more 'pompous' sounding than Quentin or Caspar but I like all three. How about Reuben?

Tillygetsit · 11/05/2019 23:00

Sorry OP but I just said Kinvara out loud and DH said "f*ing what?" 😂
