Thoughts on my boys list?

wheresmymojo · 07/05/2019 13:00

I also have a girls list thread Blush

Would be interested on any thoughts on our boys list too...

Charlie
Lawrence/Laurie
Sebastian/Seb
Harrison (Harry)
Grayson
Emmett
Ellis
Hugo
Zachariah/Zac
Coulton*

*I know this one is unusual, it's an old family name (as are Radalphus and Zebedee but I'm leaving those to history!)

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
FiremanKing · 07/05/2019 14:21

Charlie - ok. A bit common though
Lawrence/Laurie - Lawrence is a lovely name. Not keen on Laurie.
Sebastian/Seb - not keen.
Harrison (Harry) - not keen.
Grayson - awful.
Emmett - horrible.
Ellis - ok. Prefer Elliot.
Hugo - bit common.
Zachariah/Zac - awful
Coulton* - sounds like Carlton and will always be misheard as Carlton

Sparklysunflower · 07/05/2019 14:23

Lawrence and Grayson are nice.

I dislike Sebastian ((esp Seb/Sebbie/Basty) and Zac (sounds like a cartoon sound).

nethunsreject · 07/05/2019 14:24

I dislike Coulton, but the rest are great.

tisonlymeagain · 07/05/2019 14:30

My favourites would be Charlie, Seb, Hugo and Zac.

ReturnofSaturn · 07/05/2019 15:24

I like Zac and Sebastian best out of those.

Icklepup · 07/05/2019 15:27

I only like Hugo from your list.

hewontstopshitting · 07/05/2019 15:29

Charlie-I like but quite popular
Lawrence-I love but prefer spelt Laurence, Lawrence is more of a last name
Sebastian-Love
Harrison-Love
Grayson-quite American, not a fan
Emmett-love
Ellis-I’ve only met girls called Ellis
Hugo-like
Zach-I like, not a huge fan of Zachariah
Coulton-dislike

PlatypusLeague · 07/05/2019 16:02

I like Lawrence, Sebastian, Hugo and Zachariah.

Sebastian Lawrence
Sebastian Hugo
Hugo Lawrence
Hugo Sebastian
Hugo Zachariah
Zachariah Lawrence

The others are a bit nicknamey or surnamey for me.

PlatypusLeague · 07/05/2019 16:06

Zebedee is a brilliant name by the way, it would be a refreshing change. Very cool with a zingy sound. A few of us might say "Magic Roundabout" but that isn't a bad connection IMO Grin

BibbleBobbleBabble · 07/05/2019 16:08

Charlie - cute
Lawrence/Laurie - don't love the full name but the nn is cute
Sebastian/Seb - like it
Harrison (Harry) - quite nice
Grayson - lovely, but does make me think of Grayson Perry
Emmett - one of my all time fave boys names
Ellis - love
Hugo - nice
Zachariah/Zac - meh
Coulton - could easily grow on me

Greencustard · 07/05/2019 17:05

I love Lawrence and Emmett. Ellis is nice too.

Shadow1234 · 07/05/2019 19:42

Love the name Colton (but spelt this way).

My top 4 are Ellis, Colton, Laurie and Charlie (in that order)

Prettylittlelady · 07/05/2019 20:26

Charlie - an ok, run of the mill name, overly popular

Lawrence/Laurie - Ok. Not amazing.

Sebastian - like this one
Harrison (Harry) - prefer just Harry
Grayson - like this one.
Emmett - this one reminds me of the twilight movies / books and feels a little old fashioned

Ellis - don’t like

Hugo- this one is quite nice but I think some people may judge you to be a certain type of person just from the use of this name

Zachariah/Zac - like this one.

IncrediblySadToo · 07/05/2019 20:31

Prefer:

Charlie
Harrison

Dislike:

Lawrence/Laurie
Sebastian/Seb
Grayson
Ellis
Hugo
Zac

REALLY dislike:

Emmett

Coulton

Unusual & think the child might get fed up with ‘Your name’s Cool - ha ha ha’ type crap tbh.

Congratulations on leaving the other two babes where they belong! 🤣

aibutohavethisusername · 07/05/2019 21:35

I like them all except Emmett & Coulton.

formerbabe · 07/05/2019 21:39

Zac is my favourite

Emmett reminds me of keeping up appearances...I'm sure the piano playing neighbour was called that.

Harrison is everywhere
Grayson is dreadful

Hugo/Sebastian...both nice enough, typical posh boy names!

Ellis is quite nice

Carpetburns · 07/05/2019 21:40

Sebastian or Hugo.
Greyson Confused

FannyFeatures · 07/05/2019 21:42

I like Charlie, Laurie, Sebastian, Harrison, Ellis and Hugo.

I dislike Grayson, Emmett and Zachariah.

Coulton is usable but I think it's one of those hard to pull off names.

Bentley111 · 07/05/2019 21:48

Charlie - classic, love
Lawrence/Laurie - prefer Laurence. Little Women connotation for me, really like
Sebastian/Seb - against the grain but to me it sounds quite wet
Harrison (Harry) - popular, for a reason
Grayson - do really like it, but it will date
Emmett - colloquial name for tourists in Cornwall... usually derogatory. Definitely not.
Ellis - yes, love. Also love Elliot
Hugo - lovely
Zachariah/Zac - prefer Zac
Coulton* - reminds me of Holden Caulfield... so no...

MollyYouInDangerGirl · 07/05/2019 22:13

Charlie - it's ok, I used to think it was cute but gone off it over time
Lawrence/Laurie - dont like Lawrence but laurie is quite cute
Sebastian/Seb - love
Harrison (Harry) - like harry, Harrison is ok
Grayson - nothing wrong with it but a bit too American for my taste
Emmett - too American
Ellis - really dont like this
Hugo - like it (it is quite posh though!)
Zachariah/Zac - I like Zac/Zach but not keen on zachariah
Coulton* - although this is quite American sounding I prefer it to grayson and Emmett I think!

Bumblebeesmum · 07/05/2019 22:22

Love Sebastian Lawrence & Zachary

BuffySummerss · 07/05/2019 22:50

Charlie - Boring
Lawrence/Laurie - A bit posh. Prefer Laurie as a girls name
Sebastian/Seb - Absolutely love!
Harrison (Harry) - Harrison ok, v popular. Harry is nice
Grayson - nice
Emmett - not keen
Ellis - not keen
Hugo - such an ugly name for a baby!
Zachariah/Zac - Zachary yes. Very nice
Coulton* - a bit different but as a family name I'd use it. Could use Cole as a nn.

Sophronia · 07/05/2019 23:45

Lawrence or Zachariah.

I quite like Zebedee!

MumUnderTheMoon · 08/05/2019 00:39

Bring back Zebedee!! Nn Zeb

Expressedways · 08/05/2019 00:57

Charlie - ok
Lawrence/Laurie - underused, really like it
Sebastian/Seb - nice
Harrison (Harry) - Harry is ok but ubiquitous, I cant stand Harrison

Grayson - I don’t like surname names
Emmett - not keen
Ellis - not keen
Hugo - probably my second favourite
Zachariah/Zac - my favourite
Coulton - it’s usually spelt Colton but it isn’t unheard of in the US, it makes me think of the idiot on this year’s Bachelor, I really don’t like it
