I assumed it was a typo for Liam.

The poor girl would have a lifetime of explaining her name.

It's fine, easy to understand and quicker to learn when they're older.
My name is traditional, spelt the usual short one syllable way and people get it wrong every time so you can't win anyway

I am a Lian, I hated it when I was younger, now I find it unique and different. However, I tend to spell it Lianne, as it looks more feminine
