When I was young , I dreamed of having 3 children their names would have been:
Rachenda Anastasia
Romily Natasha
Peregrine Sebastian

I did have 3 children but I didn't use any of those names ( much to my children's relief!)
Did you have names that you didn't use , all mine were associated with things I loved at that time.

I've got a whole list somewhere usually taken from books that I thought were beautiful and unique during my teens and 20s .... went for very normal names although maybe got baby. 3 I'll get the list out

missmouse101 · 04/05/2019 12:54

Phaedra, Leilani, Joby, Zac.

Bunnybigears · 04/05/2019 13:00

When I was a teenager my baby names were Ryder for a boy and Harmony for a girl.

megrichardson · 04/05/2019 13:01

Jessica and Sabastian

TwittleBee · 04/05/2019 13:02

Rose, I always loved that name and Charlie for a boy.

hewontstopshitting · 04/05/2019 13:04

Julian for a boy, but my DH hates itAngry and Annie for a girl, but we never had one. I actually never liked my DS’s names, but they suit them and I love them now

Marty93 · 04/05/2019 15:56

When I was younger, I always loved the names:

Naomi
Verity
Charlotte

Freddie
Edward
Joseph

Still love Charlotte and Joseph but the others I have definitely gone off!

FannyFeatures · 04/05/2019 15:59

I always wanted a Kevin.

It didn't even occur to me to consider using it during 2 pregnancies 😂

Ohhellothereladyface · 04/05/2019 16:01

I was adamant that if I had a daughter her name would be Scarlett. When OH said he didn’t like it I was gutted, however now DD is here I couldn’t imagine her being called Scarlett and am weirdly not that fussed about the name any more!

Ohhellothereladyface · 04/05/2019 16:02

Also, as a young Beverley Hills 90210 fan, I imagined I would one day have children called Brenda and Branden!

LittleAndOften · 04/05/2019 16:03

Oscar, Dominic. When DS was born he simply didn't look like either!

MaderiaCycle · 04/05/2019 16:13

Madeleine.

soundsystem · 04/05/2019 16:21

My daughter was always going to be called Nia, after a character in a book I loved as a child. She's not, but she is called another name from the same series.

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 04/05/2019 16:25

I was determined I was going call a girl Alchemilla (as in Mollis). When dd was born, I tried to sneak it in as a middle name but dh veto'd.

The name I picked for a boy aged 8 is my son's name but it's a family name on all sides so was an easy sell to dh.

Eliza9919 · 04/05/2019 16:50

Savannah
Its related to where our family is from. I can't use that now as someone we vaguely know used it and my sister got upset as she wanted to use it but had 2 MC and a stillbirth.

Kye
I first heard it on a storyteller tape/book. DP doesn't like it at all.

Frankie (boy or girl)
DP doesn't like it as there was a 60's or whatever gangster called Frankie surname.

coffeeandbiscuittime · 04/05/2019 16:54

I also at one point wanted 11 children as the main character of one of my childhood favourite books had triplets and twins! Did not really register that she also had a cook, a cleaner and a nanny as well as a handyman.
I did call one of my daughters a name that she used , sneaked it in without husband realising!
Glad I stopped at 3 😂😂

As a child I wanted an Olivia, Abby and Daniel.
Now they're too common, too closely related in the family, and I know too many who have put me off.

Fatted · 04/05/2019 21:39

I only ever had girls names I wanted to use but we went onto have to two boys. Amy, Rosie, Isla and Eve. Glad we didn't use them because both boys classes in school are full of Rose's and Isla's.

paperandfireworks · 04/05/2019 23:32

Liljana after a character from Neighbours years ago.

Teddy. Valentina. Autumn.

My kids all have unremarkable namess.

Sophronia · 04/05/2019 23:40

Ariadne and Zaccheus Grin

My DS has a classic name currently in the top 25.

Keepthechangeyoufilthyanimal · 05/05/2019 00:01

Throughout my teens I was obsessed with the name Aurora and couldn't imagine ever calling a daughter of mine anything else!
Totally went off it at some point, way before I was pregnant (had a DS anyway) but my brother and SIL named my niece Aurora! (Don't think they were aware I had loved it)

I came across my now DS's name about 10-15 years ago and it was always my favourite boys name but I always kept it to myself, didn't even tell DH as I was too scared he'd hate it!
Prior to having DS there was a character in a tv show with said favourite name and I ever so casually mentioned it to DH once I was pregnant as a possible suggestion and luckily he loved it too!
We left DS nameless for about a week as our other name choice was safer but also in the top 20 names and one of our NCT group had the same name so it felt weird to use it. So glad we went with my all time favourite name and it suits him perfectly. Probs a bit yoo-neek for Mumsnet taste though! Grin
