Which do you like best please?

Am Irish, living in Ireland by the way Wink
I understand that Fíadh probably won't travel well (pronounced FEE-AH or Fia?, it means 'wild' so we're considering Rose as a middle name: Wild Rose)

We were (we thought) 100% sure this baby would be Grace but now we're wobbling and I feel weird for doubting a name that I was o definite about (even when TTC) so would love your opinions.

Thanks a million Smile

“BertrandRussell completely irrational and illogical hate of the name Grainne”

Grin fair enough. We were going to use it, but changed to Grace at the last minute. The child concerned- now an adult- wishes she was Grainne......

Laodamia · 03/05/2019 12:44

The problem (for me) with Gráinne is that it sounds so similar to the Irish word for ugly. Only a smidge in the difference.

implantsandaDyson · 03/05/2019 13:36

I was going to be a Gráinne, my mum changed her mind to their second choice just before she registered me in the hospital. Apparently it came as a bit of a shock when my Dad appeared at visiting. She took an aversion to it after a very long labour Grin. He still mentions it with a sigh forty odd years later!

Fíadh definitely.

My granddaughter Fíadh Grace is 1 today. I love the name especially when playing with her and singing FIA

Thistlegirl4 · 19/09/2020 13:40

Fiadh Rose sounds lovely. I know Rose is used alot as a middle name nowadays but it sounds beautiful and flows really well with names.

MariaDingbat · 23/09/2020 10:31

I love the name Fiadh and it's my top girls name but my husband sadly doesn't like it, not helped by how popular it is here at the moment. Fiadh Grace or Fiadh Rose are both lovely names.

Zombie thread...

Garcellesaidwhaaat · 24/09/2020 08:42

Fiadh

I would not use Rose though it's too common a middle name (I have it)

Fiadh Rosalie
Fiadh Rosalind
Fiadh Rosemary
Fiadh Rosa
Fiadh Daisy
Fiadh Violet
Fiadh Acantha
Fiadh Briar
Fiadh Lavender
Fiadh Primrose
Fiadh Clover
Fiadh Willow

Viletta · 24/09/2020 13:10

Fiadh would look asa male name to the international community, and in Europe people would not know how to pronounce it. Thinking of her working in an international companies and signing her name in emails for example.

This post is over a year old, I'm guessing the child has a name by now!
