Help with baby boy no3 name pls!!

Hi everyone! This is my first post ever on mumsnet!

I’m 26 weeks pregnant with baby boy no3. I have a George & an Edward (nn Eddie/Ted) & a husband called Henry.

We love traditional names but as you can see we seem to be following a pattern of royals which was never our intention

So... my favourite name is Hugh. Hubby doesn’t really like it but says I can have it. Most of my friends go quiet when I suggest the name too! Could I pls have honest opinions & alternatives.

Names we can’t use: Charlie, Alex, Oliver, William, Arthur.

I knew a Little boy called Hugh, who lived in the north and everyone around him, including himself, dropped their H’s as part of their accent. He became ‘you’. Not ideal and it really put me off. (Similarly a friend called Hannah who ended up ‘Anna’ and having to correct people every time)

I really like Hugh, like it with the brothers' names and like that it's not commonly used. I love Hugo but it's definitely quite popular now.

I loved Hugh it was on my list. Really loved the nickname Hughie too! But, apparently it is the slang for vomit? Who knew!

I think Hugo goes wonderfully with your son’s names and you can call him Hugh as a nickname. Hugh is one of those names which doesn’t sound good in all accents and like pp said, it does make your mouth go all funny when saying it

I really like James, Michael, Jude & I would have Ralph in a flash but unfortunately my husband has already said no Benedict is also a great compromise.

Thanks for your honest opinions on Hugh. Can’t believe Hughie means vomit my dad said that but I hoped he was just saying it to put me off! Unfortunately it still hasn’t put me off, I still love it. Will go back through all the suggestions and see if I can add any to my list....gonna keep working on the hubby with Ralph. I think that really works...

@Mama3boys I know! My father in law also pointed it out.. think it's a slang term from an older generation ;) definitely not used now as much! Hughie is so cute for a baby.

I'm a fan of High over Hugo especially with your little ones names I have an Edward and Love Francis it gives so many options Frank, Frankie, Franco...

The first name that sprang to mind was Max.

I love the name Hugh! So underused at the moment. I prefer it to Hugo.
