What name would go with my surname?

My last name is Mehmet and I would like some to ask people's opinions about what names would go best with it. I've got a shortlist but would also be happy with my new ideas. Thank you! I'm having a girl btw.

List so far-

Lilyana
Alexia
Isla
Zara
Robyn
Alessia
Orla
Elouise

Eloise would go but not Elouise unless it's a cultural name in which case ignore me and I don't know what I'm talking about Blush

I like Zara or Orla best of all, Robyn is good too.

Cornishqween · 20/04/2019 17:44

I love all your names but not sure on Isla? Doesn't roll off the tongue?

How about Alara? One of my friends has your surname and she called her little one Alara. I think it's beautiful.

Elouise is so stunning too!

My favourites with your surname from your list are Lilyana, Alexia and Alessia, I think it’s the longer names that sound good plus they are beautiful names so offset the slightly more blunt sounding surname. The only thing about Alexia that might put me off is it’s close to Alexa and the name of the Amazon technology thing, so would pick one of the other two.

I like Zara the best

junebirthdaygirl · 20/04/2019 18:00

Dorothy would be nice.

I don't find that an awkward surname. Marmaduke might not go with it, but most names could work with it

gem584848838 · 20/04/2019 19:23

Thank you for all your opinions and replies. I really like all of them at the moment although I am swaying more towards Robyn, Zara and Elouise. I really loved the name Thea but as it is a Greek name I'm not sure it would go with a Turkish surname.
I love the name Viola, that's definitely going on my list.

A few people have said that they chose a name and then when their baby was born they didn't look like they'd suit the chosen name. So I am going to narrow it down to a few and then decide once she's here.

Oh and I like the name Alara but annoyingly know someone I can't stand with this name so that is not an option!

I like Robyn! But then again that's what I'm going to call my baby if I have a girl :)

Not keen on the unusual spellings of common names - but all of your list work fine with your surname

Sakura7 · 20/04/2019 21:31

Zara goes really well with your surname.

Others names I think suit it are Leah, Lena and Rosa.

zen1 · 20/04/2019 22:09

Amara (from the Latin ‘to love’)? I also like Zara and Layla.

I like Zara best from your list with your surname. Alexia, Elouise and Robyn are nice too.

EugeniaGrace · 21/04/2019 06:51

I like Lilyana and Zara from your list.

There is Turkish name Ayla that can be pronounced like Isla that would also go well. I am not sure of the Turkish pronounciation though.

neighbourhoodwitch · 21/04/2019 06:56

Zara lovely, also love Amber Mehmet. ;)
