Ok so I know they don’t have to go and won’t be referred to in conjunction with each other for ever but we are struggling so much with a girls name and I don’t want names that seem polar opposite in taste.

We both have names we loved but the other wasn’t keen so we’re back to the drawing board. We have three name books and looked at every list just can’t find a name and I feel like I’m going name blind now.

DD is P enelop e and I thought of Sadie yesterday should baby be a girl. But does it ‘go’?

Would one feel like they got the cooler / quirkier / classic / better name when they grow up?

But if you like Helena, just enforce how you want it pronounced from the start. I wouldn’t see it as a nonstarter. It’s a lovely name. You will sadly probably find that people will mangle Penelope too if they don’t know it.

I love Genevieve, and that would go lovely with Penelope

Or what about Francesca as an alternative? (Fran/Frances/Franny/ Ceska).

Theoldwoman · 18/04/2019 14:59

Why the gap in the name?

I don't like both ending in an E sound.

Suggestions:

Penelope and:

Katrine
Bridget
Samantha
Olive

@Theoldwoman just so if I did go for Sadie and someone searched both daughters names it would be less likely to flag up.

Unfortunately DP doesn’t really like Helena or Francesca. isnt sold on Genevieve either.

I really hope this baby is a boy as then he’ll have a name

Penelope and Genevieve would be Penny and Genny surely - v matchy! I like Sadie a lot.

NutMeghan · 18/04/2019 19:51

I would pick Sadie

pipsqueakthethird · 18/04/2019 21:22

Sadie is nice and I think it sounds totally fine and well matched with Penelope. Don't over think it!

Veronica?
Elspbeth?
Judith?
Jemima?
Imogen?

I'm not keen on Sadie as it reminds me of the song Sexy Sadie. ( Jude Laws tattoo!)
And two 'ee' sounds .
