Or maybe Trixie? DH prefers Trixie. But I can’t get Sallie out of my head!

Sally

Accountant222 · 09/04/2019 21:34

My dog is Trixi, please don't

ilovecatsabittoomuch · 09/04/2019 22:00

Sallie is cute, and a new take on the more traditional spelling of Sally

TurquoiseLagoon · 09/04/2019 22:02

Definitely not Patience

DramaAlpaca · 09/04/2019 22:03

Patience & Sallie are very different names.

I don't much like either, but they are both better than the hideous Trixie.

MollyYouInDangerGirl · 09/04/2019 22:41

Sorry but I think they're all bad names if I'm being honest, I think Sally is the best of the bunch but only spelt with a y not an ie, and even then it's very middle aged sounding to me.

Trixie is very dog like and I dont think a grown woman called trixie could be taken seriously.

Patience is pretty awful too, definitely sounds like a very religious name!

Sorry reading that back I know I sound horrible!

mathanxiety · 10/04/2019 06:55

I love Sally (with a Y).

Was just recently reading an old children's book called 'Blueberries for Sal' and thinking what a lovely name...

Thewheelsarefallingoff · 10/04/2019 07:07

Sorry, I don't like any either. Do you have any more on your list?

Bellana · 10/04/2019 11:10

Sallie is lovely

Bumblebeesmum · 11/04/2019 12:46

Sally is old fashioned but I like it
Patience is awful especially as kids are anything but

Bumblebeesmum · 11/04/2019 12:47

If you like Trixie then the name Beatrix is lovely

Applesbananaspears · 11/04/2019 12:49

Sallie is gorgeous. Haven’t heard it for years and it’s so pretty

Dirtyjellycat · 11/04/2019 12:51

Sally is a lovely name.

But as someone whose name is always spelled incorrectly by others, I beg you to spell it in the usual way. Your child will spend their life correcting people if you don’t and it’s hugely irritating!

Sophronia · 11/04/2019 16:17

Sally spelled this way.

EmmaC78 · 11/04/2019 16:19

I think Sallie is very dated and don't like either of the other two options.

17caterpillars1mouse · 11/04/2019 20:51

Love Patience (maybe a little bit biased haha). Mine affectionately goes by Paeshie but is also often Pae. We've had nothing but compliments other than the midwife who visited after we left hospital who was a tad rude.

Sally is ok, a bit dated to me but I could see it working.

mathanxiety · 12/04/2019 02:30

17caterpillars, I recently came across a gorgeous children's book called 'Lost in the Library: a Story of Patience and Fortitude' - if you're looking for ideas for gifts for someone special aged up to about 5.

NutMeghan · 12/04/2019 08:22

Sallie

17caterpillars1mouse · 12/04/2019 13:47

@mathanxiety

Thank you that looks a lovely book and it is her 3rd birthday soon :)

lalafafa · 12/04/2019 13:56

Names for Labradors

GummyGoddess · 12/04/2019 14:01

Spell Sally properly and it's fine.

I always use Salli as an example of a name like mine. My dm spelt it Salli instead of Sally or Sallie and it's awful to constantly correct everyone. And they still get it wrong.

Samoture · 12/04/2019 14:10

Virtue names are a bit of a leap in the dark. I knew a Verity as a child, and I like the name but Verity herself was a right little fibber.

I think Patience is an overrated virtue, too, all martyr-ish and meek.

Of the ones available I like Amity, Clemency, Liberty, Joy and Felicity.

Not keen on Trixie. Sally is nice.
