Victoria?

Opinions on Victoria? Too old fashioned? I didn't used to like it but it's growing on me. Is too long a name (too many syllables) for a baby? Do you know many? I don't know any Victoria's younger than 27?!

Lovely. I know one who goes by Ria.

Mrslouislou · 30/03/2019 19:03

Liked it for my DD but decided I wouldn’t be able to stand Vicky/Tori/Vic etc so used it as a middle name instead

RainbowMum11 · 30/03/2019 19:05

Love it - I would have had it on my list if it wasn't SIL name

Tillygetsit · 30/03/2019 23:50

I dont mind it but prefer Vanessa.

Lovely classic name. The 2 I know go by the respective nicknames of Toira and Ibby. (I have no idea why Ibby?! )
I quite like Tori as a NN

I think Victoria is gorgeous. Rather than Vicky you could go with Ria or Via (Vee-a) as shortenings.

GreatDuckCookery · 31/03/2019 15:38

Love. Hate Vicky though.

Tiramisu1 · 31/03/2019 16:16

Don't shorten it at all. Victoria is beautiful and easy to say.

I know a 20 year old Victoria. That’s the youngest Victoria I know though. She is actually known as Plum to close friends and family though, sounds strange but it actually really suits her, can’t imagine calling her by her ‘real’ name now. That nickname might interest you?

Angelf1sh · 31/03/2019 16:24

The last Victoria I knew, went by Vix. I don’t know anyone younger than 30 with the name though, so maybe it’s due a revival?

IchibanLipstickForMen · 31/03/2019 17:08

Young lad at my work called his daughter Victoria last year. Hate it. Tried to talk him out of it haha!

Sybelline · 31/03/2019 17:13

Isn't it the law to say 'oh how lovely' when someone tells you the name of their new baby?

IchibanLipstickForMen · 31/03/2019 20:43

@Sybelline if you're referring to my comment... My colleague told me he was thinking of Victoria and I politely said "hmmm yeah maybe, I'd keep thinking though as it's a bit old school".. He knew I liked more unusual names and knew I was very blunt. I was also pregnant at the time.

Anyway when Victoria was born I said "Ahhh how lovely!"

MercyBodle · 01/04/2019 06:20

I love Victoria. I've come across nn Rory for Victoria.

JustAnotherMillennial · 01/04/2019 06:24

It is DD2's middle name.

Love it, that said I loathe Vic/Vicky, but Tori is a lovely nickname.
