What are your thoughts on Willa? Do you know any?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I'm not sure about the name.

Now interestingly as a child I had quite a bad stutter which I grew out of, gaining confidence helped. There were a few letters and words I couldn't pronounce, I just tried to say Willa out loud and couldn't!

I've not been unable to pronounce a word in nearly 30 years! But Willa has got me

I know a teenage one too, AuntieStella. Wonder if it’s the same one.

I’m not keen on it either to be honest. I much prefer Willow.

Cbeebiesrehab · 25/03/2019 19:33

I really like Willa. It has an edgy, cool vibe that Willow doesn’t. It’s going on my imaginary child’s name listGrin

My friend's dog is called Willa. I thought it was a really pretty name for a golden retriever. I've not watched GOT so don't know it from there.

Willow would be a safer bet. Willa will be a nightmare at school.

Ugh, I detest the name Willow - too wet and middle-class hippyish...but I think Willa is gorgeous and fresh.

Willa Muir. Scottish writer. Lovely.

AwkwardPaws27 · 25/03/2019 21:18

There's a Stephen King short story called Willa, she's a great character. I like it.

KingHenrysCodpiece · 25/03/2019 21:21

Willa is lovely as a pp said its edgy and cool but also sophisticated and unusual.

Love it!

Ohyesiam · 25/03/2019 21:26

I met my first Willa a couple of weeks ago. She was introduced round a table at a party, and no one mis heard her name, or needed to check it.
Quite nice and it suited her.

Twelve8Ts · 25/03/2019 22:22

Seen this name quite a few times on the Birth Announcements in the Telegraph! (For any geeks like me that read them...)

mrsgumpy · 26/03/2019 07:03

I love it. It was on our list if our DS was a girl.

Makes me think of Willa Cather who wrote the most beautiful book - My Antonia

TroysMammy · 26/03/2019 07:05

Whenever I hear the name Willa I always think of Willa Jean in Ramona the Pest.

Chocolatecoffeeaddict · 26/03/2019 07:27

It sounds like someone saying Willy in a Lancashire accent. Please don't call your child this.

AliceAforethought · 27/03/2019 01:02

Willy!

It’s very awful.

GeriGremlin · 27/03/2019 10:52

I love it and have loved it for many years but ruled it out for my dd as there were too many Willows around and I feared she would forever be correcting people.

I think it falls in the trap of being too similar to Willow and Will and therefore becomes unusable. Just like Evie, Eva and Ava and Milly, Milla, Mila etc

bibbitybobbityyhat · 27/03/2019 10:54

Love it! Gorgeous name.
