Names still on my mind and lists for siblings

I dont why I have names so much still on the brain. I decided on Harlow Amelie and my husband loves it so that is the name!! Thanks to all who helped me decide! I know it's not very loved in the UK but that's okay. I still have this list of names that I guess will be kept for siblings or maybe to help others. In my humble opinion, I came up with some amazing ones so thought I'd share! I dont even know if I'm having more kids. I was blessed to have one and living in San Francisco where it is very expensive, I'm not really thinking huge family here.

  • Dahlia Lauren - I was actually going to spell it Lorinne (like sounds like Corinne).
  • Viola Audrine
  • Veronica Faye
  • Aviana Summer
  • Autumn Everly
  • Vittora Yvette
  • Giuliana Amabel
  • Gemma Madeleine
  • Sienna Wren
  • Halaina Violet - this is not a conventional spelling but I prefer it to Helena. It's very far down the list so wont even be used. It was just an idea ;)
  • Arla Raffaele

Boys are really hard!! I am at a total loss. And middle names would probably be both our dad's names, Albert and Martin. But here are some I like okay:

Bram
Hudson
Vincent
Corbin
Dean
Sawyer
Vaughn
Donovan
Connelly
Carlo
Morrison
Gerard
Gerome
Romero
Heath
August
Fintan

I contemplated Brooks on another thread but I dont think I like it now!

Lots of good names. However, please do not use an unusual spelling. Having yo spell out. The name several times is very dull as a parent and worse as a child. One of my kids has an unusual spelling and people get it wrong all the time!

Italiangreyhound · 23/03/2019 18:54

Violet - is a lovely name.

Really not keen on Arla Raffaele or Corbin, or Morrison.

Rachelhaydenberk1 · 23/03/2019 19:10

Arla Raffaele is at the bottom of the list and probably my bravest one. I probably wouldn't use it but I liked coming up with it. I did just realize I dont mind Raffael for a boy. I like Italian names a lot!!

Morrison is out there even for the US! In the spirit of surnames as first names, I like this one a lot! But it's very out there!!

Love sawyer for a boy! I would of used that - I have 2 girls Elodie Eden & Arielle Ember. What about Austin?

Sienna wren is my favourite girls name you’ve mentioned! Also love Harlow - I live in Essex, UK not far from the town so couldn’t use it haha but I do like it :) xx

Italiangreyhound · 24/03/2019 21:04

When I was a child I saw the word Izal on something and I love it, until someone told me it was a brand of loo roll.

Arla is a brand of milk, so I just always associate it with that.

Of your boys names I like Donovan and Vincent but I do think longer names will get shortened to Don and Vince.

BackforGood · 24/03/2019 21:18

Well, it's fair to say that we have very different taste in names, but either way, I agree with previous poster saying please don't inflict a made up spelling on your child - particularly one that sounds like a name speeled a 'usual' way.

PiratePetespajamas · 24/03/2019 21:29

Raeffaele is a boy’s name (Italian spelling for Raphael, names ending in “e” in Italian are usually male - Simone, Daniele, Gabriele, etc). The girls name is Raffaella. Just saying.

Siena Wren and Viola Audrine are much nicer than Harlow. Amelie is sweet, and unusual in the States - i’d use that, and give Harlow (if you must) as a middle name. But you’ve already decided so that’s just me being unhelpful.

Rachelhaydenberk1 · 25/03/2019 02:06

Awe thanks for the feedback! I know Harlow is not liked over there! Amelie actually has gotten popular here. My grandma's name is Ama so it's an honor name but I wanted to lengthen it. I think I will stick to Harlow Amelie because my husband and I agree on it, my mom loves it, and here Harlow is not an out there, surprising name. It's a known girl's name. It's a bit trendy but I find it elegant personally.

Yeah I actually had other names in the mix that were more "made up" but I tried to nix those as best as I could. I like Amelise and Avienne but I got too much flack so I'm now okay with Amelie and Aviana.

I also realized I love Elisabetta lately. I dont like Elizabeth so this is kinda coming out of nowhere but I like Elisabetta with the nicknames Elise or Betty.

My friend announced shes naming her little boy Corbin and that makes me sad because I really loved it. Shes the type who posts every minute of her life on social media so I dont think I should name a future potential son the same name. I think my fav boy names are Bram, Vincent and Sawyer. I do like these!! I actually do like Austin as well!

I read Raffaele is a unisex name but it does make more sense that Rafaela is the correct name for a girl. I honestly think it's too brave to use anyway. Had no idea Arla was a brand of milk!! Its pretty to me but not one of my favorites. Probably never use it.

Yeah things that are brand names also kinda put me off.

Ok I just realised you in the States so apologies.

Morrison is a supermarket here and Corbin is the surname of the leader of the Labour party. That was .y objection to those two. But that probably means nothing in the states so ignore my commenys.

Hope the pregnancy goes well. Flowers

17caterpillars1mouse · 25/03/2019 08:20

I like Veronica Faye best though would prefer Veronica Violet nn Vivi or Veronica Amelie

Rachelhaydenberk1 · 25/03/2019 13:27

Oooh Veronica Violet. I like that. Nickname would be Vevi. That's cute!!

I get a lot of flack because of the archie comics or the show Riverdale. People think Veronica is a mean girl name! But I think it's quite classic. I like that it's a plant but that's not the first thought about it.

Yeah I'm in the states, so it's been so cool getting a different perspective. Even though I know Harlow was not well received!

Corbin, I cant use now because my friend is. Morrison is weird Haha. Even here it's odd. It's one of those surnames that hasnt really crossed over to an acceptable first name yet. I dont know why I like it so much! I think everyone with the last name Morrison is super awesome- like Van Morrison, Jim Morrison. Or close names like Alanis Morrisette. Or the fictional character Zach Morris lol. I think I just have a really positive association with it! What about Morris?

For boys I feel so bored with names. I like Vincent, Vaughn (couldn't use both due to the actor Vince Vaughn!!), Bram, Emmitt, Gerard, Callahan, Fintan, and Sawyer a lot. I think as a really classic George because I have a lot of positive associations with George. But can you picture a baby called George? It seems like an older man name. Dignified. But just salt and pepper handsome like George Clooney or George Strait.

OP posts:
Italiangreyhound · 25/03/2019 20:20

George is quite a popular baby name here. It was my granddad's name so one of my cousins names her baby George.

My favourite names are Cassidy, Cassia and Cadence for girls.

And Joshua for a boy.

I think most boys don't like make a that are too long and fancy. Many guys I know abbreviate, Andrew to Andy, Peter to Pete, so a long name runs the risk of being abbreviated.
