What's wrong with Rose? It's a beautiful name.

Barrenfieldoffucks · 14/03/2019 21:23

It is quite common as a middle name at the moment, less so as a first name.

I like it as a first name tbh, it's quite solid but elegant...would work well for a child or an adult.

Echomama · 14/03/2019 21:31

I know it's a beautiful name.
But I also want to know how popular it is before it's all legal and my dd2 wonders why she doesn't have a unique full name like dd1....

I have a Rose...it's her first name. We've never met another. Echomama f you're thinking of it for a first name, then it's a great choice.

FaithInfinity · 14/03/2019 21:40

DD is at school (year 1) with a Rose (first name). I quite like it either as a first name or middle name, massively overused as a first name-Rose though.

ShadyLady53 · 14/03/2019 21:40

I know a Willow-Rose lol

toastonbean · 14/03/2019 22:14

What's DD1's name? Does Rose go with it?

Susannach · 14/03/2019 22:25

It’s rarer than Willow as a first name I think.

But as a middle, it’s incredibly popular. I honestly think about 50% of the little girls I know have Rose as a middle name. It’s this generation’s Jane/Louise.

CaptainCabinets · 14/03/2019 22:51

My best friend is called Rose. I love it.

MumUnderTheMoon · 14/03/2019 23:17

Rose is quite common at the minute also used a lot as the second art of a hyphenated name eg Katie-Rose

RebeccaWrongDaily · 14/03/2019 23:18

a third of my children have the middle name Rose.

jjandtheseagulls · 14/03/2019 23:34

Willow - no

Rose - yeah

CloserIAm2Fine · 14/03/2019 23:36

Rose and May are the popular middle names of this generation, like Louise was in my generation and Anne in my mother’s generation

However Rose is still lovely name, that’s why it’s so popular.

AornisHades · 14/03/2019 23:42

I've got one with the middle name Rose. It's an acknowledgement of a family member and because it sounded nice. I didn't realise at the time it was the new bog standard middle name.

Tavannach · 14/03/2019 23:43

Darkgreener which only lists first names places it at 60th in England and Wales in 2017. So you wouldn't be bumping into them all the time. Or to put it another way in two classes of 30 girls there would be one.
I prefer Rose to Willow.

Echomama · 15/03/2019 08:46

Rose would be her middle name not her first.
Her first is sorted and done and no going back! Variation of Evelyn but not quite, which is also super common at the minute which is why I'm on the fence about rose for a middle name
Also, willow was just an example when tossing names around with dh. I do much prefer Rose to willow

Why bother with a middle name?

BlueMerchant · 15/03/2019 08:51

If the first name is a variation of Evelyn then you need something a bit more unusual than the expected Rose/Grace/Mae mns I agree.
I would suggest Iris but this is becoming quite popular where I live.

aliceandkids77 · 15/03/2019 10:30

I know a lot of little girls with Rose as a middle name but none with Rose as a first name. I think it's timeless, classic and absolutely gorgeous- I clearly love it haha! Willow is beautiful too! Xx

Barrenfieldoffucks · 15/03/2019 10:49

Variants of Evelyn are super common at the moment

ReginaPhalange89 · 15/03/2019 14:01

Every other baby girl I know has rose as a middle name 🙈

If her first name is quite common I definitely wouldn't have rose as a middle .

mogtheexcellent · 15/03/2019 14:03

I wanted rose as a first name but DH refused. Made sure I got my second choice and rose as a middle name. It's a very common middle name but i love it as a first name.

3in4years · 15/03/2019 19:56

All the baby girls.I know born last year have the middle name Rose, including my own! It is extremely popular because it is fantastic.

Jessabean · 15/03/2019 21:22

How about Rosa as a compromise? I think isn't overly common as a first name though is one of those classic pretty names which will always hold up fairly high in statistics- is extremely popular as a middle name but does sound so nice as middle name with so many first and surnames!
