I like the name Ash for a boy but would like help coming up with a middle name for him. We would like a Nature/hippy styled name, thank you.

I like Ash. I much prefer it to Ashley. Asher is good though.

DS1 had a friend called Ash when he was small, almost 20 years ago. Supply teachers would call him Ashley, though. That would annoy me.

I'd go for Ash Vincent from the above list.

This actually upsets me I'm a pacifist and would never want to "attack" you all I said is that if you didn't like my post to not comment and that people should be spreading happiness not negativity. I didn't post it here because this is about a baby name and I didn't think everyone needed to see. I'm sorry if you felt attacked but I didn't mean such thing. I just wanted to find a name for Ash.

It's a public forum. Anyone can comment and they can choose whether to make sensible or silly suggestions. If you can't cope with that, don't ask strangers on the internet to name your baby.

I came on to say Wednesday, but others have beaten me to it.

I post this nearly everyday - remember your baby will grow up and have to apply for jobs etc - please give a name suitable for a cv, Ashley is fine, you can shorten at home, and a professional sounding middle name. Earlier in the week there was a thread about a man changing his name because it wasn't suitable for being a teacher. Cute names as nicknames are fine

Ash Elijah
Ash Elias
Ash Augustin
Ash Sebastian

My friend is an Ashley who moved to the US a few years ago. He gets all sorts of crap from people as apparently Ashley is very much s girls only name over there. Just something to consider if you’re going for the longer version of it.

For me Ash just makes me think of Pokemon rather than any kind of naturey/ hippy type. Names that I do think are in that category are things like Heath, Oakley, Tor, River, Osian (I always hear it as Ocean even though it’s obviously not!), Petroc, Devon.

mathanxiety · 09/03/2019 08:51

I would go with a non-traditional name but I would hesitate to lay the nature theme on too thick or too obviously.

Ash Everest
Ash Fielding
Ash Landon
Ash Garnett
Ash Micah
Ash Corbin
Ash Peregrine
Ash Daragh (Irish for oak tree)
Ash Caspian
Ash Blaise
Ash Larkin
Ash Rieffe
Ash Griffin
Ash Beaumont

Other names:
Ash Owen
Ash Isaac
Ash Ethan
Ash Elliott
Ash Nathaniel
Ash Ezra
Ash Benjamin
Ash Aldyn

The good thing about trying out baby names and asking for opinions is that you get a good idea of whether they are going to be practical and useable. It appears that a child called Ash in the UK could have a hard time of it.
