What do you think of this family of names and which spelling would you go for?

I love Celine and Celina.

Celina is traditionally spelt Selina (as spelt in Jane Austen novels) but Selena spelling has become more popular due to Selena Gomez.

Celine/Celina is French and has the meaning heavenly

Selene/selena/Selina has the meaning moon goddess.

Celine has the association of the designer brand and Celine Dion.

Selena is assiciated with Selena Gomez and another famous Hispanic singer. It is very commonly used by the Hispanic community in the US, and I think the Indian community here in the UK.

Love the names, and love how silky smooth they sound. I don’t understand why they’re not more popular.

Celine. I think its a very pretty sounding name.

Gronk27 · 07/03/2019 12:14

I prefer Celine but without the 'a' sound on the end. (Like Celine Dion.)

MollyHuaCha · 07/03/2019 13:10

I like them all. I would choose Selena.

I'd go for Selena or Selina -as close to the Greek as you can. Selene is better still.

I prefer Celine or Selina as those spellings look more correct somehow.
There is also the similar sounding and also very pretty Serena.

VoyageInTheDark · 07/03/2019 18:17

I like Selina or Selena. Celine just seems too associated with Celine Dion

Shadow1234 · 07/03/2019 18:24

Selena would be my choice

FiddleFaddleDingDong · 07/03/2019 19:32

I think Celine sounds so elegant. Maybe because it reminds me of the fashion label of the same name and the whole Phoebe Philo aesthetic. Celine Dion didn't occur to me until I read the above post.

Selina is lovely too.

Easterbunnyiscomingsoon · 07/03/2019 19:34

I prefer Estelle /Celeste

PoppingGlitter · 07/03/2019 20:05

I immediately thought Selena Gomez (although that could be because my DD idolised her back in her Disney days!). Also Celine Dion.

Much prefer Selina, seems more beautiful and the 'proper' spelling if you are in the UK as I believe Selena is the hispanic spelling.

Zana2222 · 07/03/2019 20:07

I like Selena or Selina best

BlueMerchant · 07/03/2019 20:11

Enko · 07/03/2019 20:17

I prefer Celia

DramaAlpaca · 07/03/2019 21:23

I'd choose Celine or Selina.

AwakeNow · 07/03/2019 21:34

Celine.

Sophronia · 09/03/2019 18:20

I prefer the Selina spelling.

mrsdavys · 09/03/2019 18:22

I like Celine

Ratburglermcgee · 09/03/2019 21:10

Celine - it's a very chic french name

Selena et al sound a bit America to my ear
