Kit

I love Christopher for my baby boy (my dad's name), but he would be known as Kit. He could choose the version of his name that he prefers when he's older.

Husband not sold on it but I honestly can't think of any other names that I want to use. 13 weeks to go but still no shortlist

It is nice but certainly very popular at the moment in case that kind of thing bothers you.

I think Kit is the only name of a Wayne Rooney offspring that gets the MN seal of approval Wink

Really cute and I know a very old Kit, so think it suits any age.

SweetAsSpice · 01/03/2019 17:31

Love it!

Quintella · 01/03/2019 17:31

Although I seem to know a few of them it seems only 211 Kits were born in 2017. I think that will have crept up for 2018 though.

It's an adorable name! I doubt very much this will make any difference (it wouldn't to me) but Harry, the drummer from McFly has a son named Kit

Bellaposey · 01/03/2019 19:59

Love it!

PeppermintCactus · 01/03/2019 19:59

Love it!

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 01/03/2019 20:12

I really really like it but id be worried about getting KitKat at school

But why? There's nothing particularly negative about KitKats, surely? It's a cute name.

MollyYouInDangerGirl · 01/03/2019 23:56

Lobe the name kit!

Would love to use Kit for a boy myself but unfortunately my partner has a family member called Christopher that he doesn't get on with and seeing as kit is a nn/pet name for Christopher it feels a bit weird to think of actually using it :(

I've shown this thread to husband and he's on board! Thank you for everyone's opinions. He likes the middle name Lennon but we'll see...

OP posts:
AuntMarch · 02/03/2019 08:15

I'm not sure what middle name would go with it either, which is why husband is unsure

Do you need a middle name?

GraceMarks · 02/03/2019 08:55

Lennon?? Is he a Beatles fan? I wouldn't want to use a name that a) a Gallagher has used, and b) refers to an unpleasant, abusive man. Hope you can talk your husband round!

Icantreachthepretzels · 02/03/2019 15:29

If I were handed a baby boy tomorrow I would name him Kit Gabriel.

And I wouldn't worry about him being called KitKat at school as I would almost certainly call him that, myself, from day one.

bluebabydinosaur · 02/03/2019 16:11

I really like this. Christopher is a great name. Kit as a nickname is very cute and cool. I have never met a single Kit in my life.

bluebabydinosaur · 02/03/2019 16:12

Ps - I wish I had thought of this! Perhaps for no 2 if there ever is one! Good luck

Whoops75 · 02/03/2019 20:05

It has grown on me Grin

Supposedly · 02/03/2019 21:53

Love Kit. My friend recently had a baby boy named Kit (Christopher on birth cert) Never considered it was a shortened version of Christopher before they did it. It gives the kid a chance at a more ordinary name if they dislike it in future :)

MondeoFan · 02/03/2019 21:56

I like Kit, I know a "Kit" he's in his mid 20s it really suits him.

SallyWD · 02/03/2019 22:05

I dont know any boys called Kit and I work in a school. It's very nice, as is Christopher and Chris

Nothingunpleasant · 02/03/2019 22:06

Love kit! I am surprised a previous poster didn’t know it was short for Christopher, my great great-uncle was a kit, it’s not a modern nickname, very long established

123Flopsy · 08/03/2019 07:04

Christopher and Chris are lovely underused names.

Kit sounds like it's short for Kitten or Kitty. I'm not so keen and much prefer Chris.

Bumblebeesmum · 08/03/2019 10:32

Love it
