Timeless or dated?

I know a 7 month old Rachel.

I like all your suggestions, especially Sarah.

Love Rachel, Sarah, Emma and Elizabeth. I think they're timeless, classic.
Love William and James.

Dislike Andrew and Matthew.
Prefer Nicholas, Clement, Conrad, Dominic.

Bumblebeesmum · 02/03/2019 10:16

Very dated - makes me think the person will be 30/40 years old. Nothing wrong with it though if you love it.

Aarghkids · 02/03/2019 10:23

I have a 11yo Rachel. Love it

icannotremember · 02/03/2019 10:25

Timeless. Love it.

BlueMerchant · 02/03/2019 10:31

Rachel Elizabeth is lovely. Timeless.
Like Emma too but not with Elizabeth as mn
Prefer Matthew to Andrew.
Andrew is dated to me.

JustAnotherMillennial · 02/03/2019 10:35

I adore Rachel.

Matthew is nice! Does not seem to have dated, same with Emma (which I also like) as both names still linger around the top 50.

Not particularly keen on Sarah or Andrew though.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 02/03/2019 10:43

Lovely. Unusual now, too.

ButterflyOfFreedom · 02/03/2019 11:27

I like Rachel. Emma is lovely too.

weegiemum · 02/03/2019 11:31

I have a 15 year old Rachel, who was named after her great-grandma who died just before she was born - so certainly timeless!

She's Rachel, Rachy, Rach, Rachy-baby ......

She would have been Matthew if she had been a boy!

Sakura7 · 02/03/2019 16:26

I love it, one of my favourite names.

If you dismiss a name like Rachel for being dated (though I don't think it is personally), and go for a more current name, that current name will be dated in a few decades time anyway. Name popularity chops and changes, so by that logic everyone's name (unless it's an unusual one) will seem dated at some point in their lives.

I'm not a fan of the soft cutesy names that are popular now anyway, so maybe I'm biased!

palomapear · 02/03/2019 16:35

I like it. Very classic .

In a similar vein I like Peter for a boy and never understood why it's never really suggested

MyElbowIsItchy · 02/03/2019 16:40

Timeless. Beautiful name, my eldest dd is Rachel.

GreyGardens88 · 02/03/2019 16:44

No, It's the future Karen

bluebabydinosaur · 02/03/2019 17:56

Love it. Sarah is good too.

ketchupormayo · 03/03/2019 18:01

Emma is lovely. Lucy is cute too

Alsonification · 03/03/2019 18:07

I have an almost 21 year old Rachel. I love it. I wanted it for my child’s name from the time I was around 8yrs old & a new neighbour moved in next door with a daughter called Rachel. Grin
(By the way, her middle name is Louise).
