Name paranoia

I'm not 100% on the names we've decided on, but neither me nor my DH will have each other's first choices (Florence or Olivia).

He has always wanted Rosie so I've said that I would go for that because I think it's a pretty name, we can't agree on anything else and I just hope I'd come to love it.

We haven't told anyone this name but at work, people have been giving me suggestion upon suggestion. Yesterday someone suggested Rosie by coincidence... our surname starts with an R and has two S's in it.
A couple of them laughed, with comments such as 'imagine calling it that', 'god that's a definite no' and 'what a mouthful'.

My DH was so happy that we'd come to a decision, and now I'm so paranoid about the name!

Is it really that bad?

Flossie Ross would be quite bad!

Ribbonsonabox · 27/02/2019 22:06

I think it sounds fine! I'd not use it as I say 'w' instead of 'r'... can you imagine lol!!! But if you can actually say 'r' it's totally fine. I dont think itd be too much of a mouthful.

I prefer Rosalie nn Rosa to Rosie.

What about Emma?

mkmo · 27/02/2019 22:18

Rosie Russel is a beautiful name. I'm sure your colleagues were joking. If you like it that's all that matters.

MollyYouInDangerGirl · 27/02/2019 23:23

I think Rosie is nice and probably wont be bad with your surname but it's hard to say without knowing what it is.

However it does seem like you don't love the name so maybe it isn't the right one?

I love florence!

Other names you could both like are
Annie
Alice
Daisy
Ella
Pippa
Sadie
Phoebe
Clementine (wild card choice 😂)

MikeUniformMike · 28/02/2019 10:37

I think it's fine and nicer than Florence and Olivia.

Nothing wrong with alliteration !

I think when you’re very sensitive to people’s opinions it can mean you’re not completely convinced yourself though.

I think Rosie is lovely but there would be a name you would both love if this isn’t it. I have a friend with a Rosalie and of course the legend Rosa would be cool.

If the alliteration is the thing that bothers you then what about Primrose & have Rosie as a nickname?

Bumblebeesmum · 05/03/2019 01:10

I think Penrose is another

nocluenoidea · 05/03/2019 03:37

I think the alliteration is lovely and would def go with Rosie, such a pretty name.

However, it you want similar alternatives;

Romy
Remi
Felicity
Mila
Millie
Amelie
Livvy
Lavinia
Luella

Anna
Sadie
Zoë
Nancy
Lucy
Alexandra

I like Rosie.
