Hi all,

Thanks so much for helping me on the other thread.

I just wanted to check in and ask which you preferred:

Camila pronounced: cam-mee-la (no duchess connection!)

Or Camilla (cam-mill-la)

Older sibling is Isabella.

Thanks

If you must go with the name.. Go for whiever spelling the awful woman doesn't use.

RayaJambalaya · 24/02/2019 18:30

Whatever*

WarmthAndDepth · 24/02/2019 18:33

Camila (a spelling I have never encountered before) will spend her life clarifying and correcting.
I know a Jamila (Brazilian) so I am thinking that Camila is along the same lines? In what part of the world are people called Camila?

DrCatherine · 24/02/2019 18:35

It’s spanish/Portuguese...Brazilian makes sense

Camilla.

(Though to my ears both sound a bit 'samey' with Isabella.)

PCohle · 24/02/2019 18:37

If you're based in the UK I'd go with Camilla or else she'll have to spend her whole life correcting people's spelling/pronunciation of her name.

Luckingfovely · 24/02/2019 18:39

Camila just looks like a spelling mistake.

So Camilla.

Kintan · 24/02/2019 18:41

How about Camille instead if you don’t want any duchess connection?

DramaAlpaca · 24/02/2019 18:42

Camilla

toastonbean · 24/02/2019 18:51

I have a lovely friend named Camellia (like the flower)

PCohle · 24/02/2019 18:56

Camellia is lovely

daisypond · 24/02/2019 19:16

Camilla. Camila looks a bit odd alongside Isabella to me. Camilla is a lovely name.

RayaJambalaya · 24/02/2019 19:43

I agree that Camellia is much nicer! Plus Camila would be pronounced the same as Camilla anyway.

Chichichi · 24/02/2019 20:29

Camilla but also think Camellia is a beautiful name.

Moondancer73 · 24/02/2019 22:03

I wouldn't go for the name at all to be honest - makes me think of the grumpy old duchess. Camelia on the other hand is beautiful.

Bumblebeesmum · 24/02/2019 22:38

I don’t think the unusual spelling because it’ll be a lifetime of misspellings

Have you considered Camille ? I think this is really sweet

irnbruforlife · 24/02/2019 22:49

I prefer Camila. I doubt very much the next/younger generation will have spelling or pronounciation issues with it due to the singer.

Bigonesmallone3 · 24/02/2019 22:52

Camilla

Rachelhaydenberk1 · 25/02/2019 04:35

I like it pronounced Cam-Mila. But I dont love it with Isabella. I like Camille better, it's not as matchy to Isabella.

I prefer Camilla. Lovely name either way!

SemperIdem · 25/02/2019 10:07

I really like Camilla.

The Duchess connection wouldn’t bother me. She’s not a murderer or porn star (which is where my personal line gets drawn in terms of names).

Antonin · 25/02/2019 11:49

Camilla to avoid future frustration. You would probably find most people would suspect a typo and “correct” Camila to Camilla, anyway.
I also like Camelia and Camille.. If you call her Camelia you can nn her Camila or Camil pronounced as in Camila
