Initials...BJ?!?

Hi, we really want to call our son Benjamin however our surname begins with a J and one of our friends said we shouldn’t give him the initials BJ 🙈 Do you think we should still go with it, or will he be teased later in life?!?

Use Benjamin as a middle name and call him by that

That defeats the purpose as he'll then still be known as Benjamin Jxxx!

I love the name Benjamin, but wouldn't choose it with a J surname.

I went to school with a boy called Bejay, pronounced BJ. It didn't occur to us at that age. I've no idea if he got shit for it at secondary though.

I’ve always used initials through career for minutes, action log, plans etc, people would definitely snigger at BJ.

We called one of our boys Brandon and gave him the middle name James, as it's a family name. Hi initals are BJS. We did ponder the whole BJ issue but didn't care too much. He'll come up against far worse things in life than a few daft comments. 😬. Just name him what you like, the term BJ may no longer be in vogue by the time he's older anyway 😉xx

I think BJ is a more commonly used phrase now than when we were growing up. I'd personally avoid. (Benjamin as a middle name is fine though)

Boris Johnson's real first name is Alexander. His middle name is Boris. I assume he prefers Boris as it makes him sound more like a 'character'. He is a fraud and a charlatan. Not to mention a complete and utter bastard.

I used to know a family with a little girl called Beatrice-Jane known as BJ by her very loud mum. It raised a few eyebrows hearing her shout ‘BJ!’ at this cute little girl running around the playground.
