It is a girl 🥰

Congratulations!!😊

Only my opinion, but Mira (spelt Myra because of the shower manufacturers, perhaps...?) sounds like a more complete name.

Aya is pretty, and certainly will be more palatable by the MN crowd, but sounds maybe a bit unfinished.

Sessy19 · 18/02/2019 13:09

Maya? Popular in some parts, but recognisable...

123Flopsy · 18/02/2019 13:32

Love Mira! Beautiful name.

Maya is so overused around here and Aya sounds incomplete.

Greensleeves · 18/02/2019 13:33

Mira is lovely

MikeUniformMike · 18/02/2019 16:48

Aya seems a bit nothingy. Is it eye-ah or Eh-a?
Mira is nicer.

Skirmisher · 18/02/2019 16:52

Mira is lovely.

Aya is a bit bland in comparison. And it reminds me of aye-aye which is a creepy little lemur type thing. I admit that reason might be a bit niche Grin They are creepy though!

Skirmisher · 18/02/2019 16:53

Mira is pronounced meer-a, isn't it?

anatol · 18/02/2019 18:19

I prefer Mira. Aya sounds like the noise you make if you get a paper cut.

TheOnlyWayIsUpBaby · 18/02/2019 18:26

How about Ayla? She’s the amazing heroine in The Earths Children series by Jean M Also interesting other connections if you google it.

Mira is a shower, or if you spell it Myra it reminds me of Hindley. Might just be people over 40 who think that way though.

TheOnlyWayIsUpBaby · 18/02/2019 18:26

Jean M Auel!!! Not Also!

AgathaF · 18/02/2019 18:28

Not Mira - either the shower brand or Hindley.

MissSmithToYou · 18/02/2019 18:35

No matter what the spelling, it'll always make me think of Hindley so I wouldn't go there

PeterPiperPickedWrong · 18/02/2019 18:37

Mira, despite the different spelling, Makes me think of Hindley too. Sorry.

TillyTheTiger · 18/02/2019 18:40

I wouldn't use Mira because of the Hindley connection (as some people might pronounce it Myra).
If you like the sound and don't mind the spelling then you could use Meera?

Sophronia · 18/02/2019 23:17

Mira

IVflytrap · 19/02/2019 01:05

I prefer Mira. Aya isn't bad, but I think Mira is a more "solid", timeless name. Aya seems a bit more trendy.

Quite surprised that pps are linking Mira with Myra. They're two different names with different origins, and they're pronounced differently. It wouldn't occur to me that anyone would pronounce the letter I in Mira like the letter Y in Myra. Just like you wouldn't pronounce the currency Lira like the name Lyra.

Dreamzcancometrue · 19/02/2019 02:01

Not really keen on either, what about Mya?

MercyBodle · 19/02/2019 05:00

I prefer Mira.

Bumblebeesmum · 19/02/2019 11:58

I immediately thought of Myra Hindley sorry Confused

spiderlight · 19/02/2019 15:20

Mira is a make of shower, and also immediately made me think 'Hindley' - sorry.

colditz · 19/02/2019 15:24

Not Mira

First thought was Mira Hindley.

And Aya is a Northern greeting. Give the poor mite a full name.

Flicketyflack · 19/02/2019 15:26

Congratulations!!!!

Mira makes me think of showers

Aya is ok

Had not heard of either for names Smile
