Girls name help

I am currently pregnant with another girl and I am struggling to come up with a name I love as much as our first daughter - Elsie Isabelle named after my great grandmother. I keep floating names past my husband however he is yet to want to sit down and talk about names properly where as I'm freaking out trying to find the right one!

List so far however continually changes:
Polly
Heidi
Ingrid
Hallie
Leni/Lenny (potentionally Eleanor nn Leni however might be too close to Elsie?)
Riley
Sylvie

What do you think of my current favourites? Would love to hear any other suggestions. Thanks

Eleanor is much my favourite of the names you list -- it's lovely.

Nightlights · 15/02/2019 13:04

Margaret nn Peggy? Kind of conflates Polly and Maggie and goes with Elsie

spanishwife · 15/02/2019 13:06

Oh I just love Heidi!! And it's been long enough since any tv version that people of her generation won't make the connection

babylatts · 17/02/2019 10:17

Appreciate the responses, sorry in the delay of replying. Eleanor nn Leni comes from a family name (Leonard nn Len) but I worry it's too close to Elsie. I have recently come across the name Leonie and it's growing on me. What's everyone's thoughts on Leonie? Polly and Heidi are still front runners but Leonie has intrigued me. I also really like Leonora however my husband doesn't like it.

Polly or Leoni for me

SR11 · 17/02/2019 11:58

Leonie*

I like that it ends similar to Elsie too

MercyBodle · 17/02/2019 12:48

I love both Polly and Sylvie and think either would be great as Elsie's sister. I'm not a fan of Leonie - it was commonly used where Iive for women now in their 50s-60s, so feels tired rather than fresh to me. Heidi seems a bit dull to me, and definitely cross of Riley which is modern for girls compared with the vintage style of Elsie and sounds odd next to it.

ketchupormayo · 17/02/2019 12:50

Polly ❤️

Disfordarkchocolate · 17/02/2019 13:00

I love Leonie, I've only met one so not common where I am.

Shadow1234 · 17/02/2019 23:53

Leonie would be my preference over Polly and Heidi.

Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 18/02/2019 00:05

Love Heidi Its gorgeous and goes so well with Elsie. It’s perfect.
Eleanor is nice especially with Leni as a nickname. I dont think elsie and leni are too similar.

mkmo · 18/02/2019 00:23

I know older names such as Polly and Heidi are coming into fashion but my only association with these names is that they are quite dated- sorry! How about something a bit more unusual?

Olive, Cassie, Kresse, Liberty, Mia, Nola,

or more common but I love

Ruby, Alice

I also love names which are traditionally boys names but used for girls i think they can be very cute and to me represent girl power!

Max, Billy, James, Xander

LordPickle · 18/02/2019 00:47

Carys

bubblegumbottles · 18/02/2019 01:16

I would avoid Eleanor purely because I know both an Elsie and an Eleanor and they both get called 'El'.

Ingrid sounds fab with Elsie :)

Poppyfields21 · 18/02/2019 01:18

What about Leonora? Could shorten to Lenny

Lovingbenidorm · 18/02/2019 01:21

I like Polly

DramaAlpaca · 18/02/2019 01:24

Leonie is gorgeous but it's a very different style to Elsie.

stellarfox · 18/02/2019 10:35

I don’t love Leonie but I really like Lenore/Lenora/Leonora! I like that the nicknames could be Lenny or Nora!

leigh39 · 18/02/2019 10:50

Isla

BlueMerchant · 18/02/2019 15:06

Don't like Leonie or Leonora. I don't think either sound right with Elsie either.
I'm sticking with Heidi but love Marnie and Alice still.

Bumblebeesmum · 19/02/2019 12:39

I’m surprised by such different names being on one person’s list - they’re completely different styles & some quite posh & some very not so - some flowery / girly others quite hard sounding.

Don’t hate any but I do love Heidi & Polly although I’d probably go with a longer birth certificate name for Polly in case they wanted variety as an adult as it’s quite cutesy / nicknamey

daisypond · 19/02/2019 14:07

Polly -ok, but I prefer it as a short form for Mary. Could grow on me, though.
Heidi - not keen
Ingrid not keen
Hallie - horrid
Leni/Lenny (potentionally Eleanor nn Leni however might be too close to Elsie?) No
Riley - horrid
Sylvie - quite like, but prefer Sylvia.
