Girls shortlist

Opinions please on our current shortlist of girls' names:

Leah/Lia
Vada
Hadley
Grace
Ally
Isabella
Darla

Isabella and Grace seem very popular atm so that is putting us off slightly (especially if you add in Isobel/Isabel and Gracie! )

Dd is Molly and Dsd is Tilly so name would need to go with them. We like that Ally matches the 'lly' theme but not sure if it is too much?

Hadley, love this name!

DeboraAndTheKids · 09/02/2019 20:46

'lly' theme may be a little too much!

However I have always loved the name Charlie - perhaps spell it Charlly?
Whatever you decide will work and your daughter will probably resent you for it anyway ...
best of luck with it all

ketchupormayo · 09/02/2019 20:55

Haven't heard Darla before I really like that!

youbethemummylion · 09/02/2019 20:59

Vada is my absolute favourite girls name. Isnt Darla the awful girl in Finding Nemo?

Petalflowers · 09/02/2019 21:02

Never heard of vada or Hadley.

Prefer Leah to Lia.

Ally is short for Alison.

Quite like Darla.

Maybe a Ly name that isn’t Ly. Ie Maisie, Zoe, Chloe etc?

RoseMartha · 09/02/2019 21:06

Darla or Leah

FlagFish · 09/02/2019 21:08

Grace is my favourite- it goes really well with Molly and Tilly too.

Sophronia · 09/02/2019 23:25

Vada or Darla

Shadow1234 · 09/02/2019 23:43

Really like Hadley, its different.

IVflytrap · 10/02/2019 00:45

Darla or Grace. Leah is also nice.

Wouldn't go with Ally as it really is too much along with the other two names. I'm not a fan of matchy names.

Divgirl2 · 10/02/2019 08:24

They're all a bit younique for me. Grace is my favourite I suppose, if I had to choose one. Its still a fairly uncommon name where I live, I only know one and she's a very successful lawyer.
I don't really like Leah, not sure why, think it's because I had a hairdresser called Leah about 10 years ago who cut my hair too short. Not really to do with the name.
Vada would get Darth as a nn at secondary school.
Hadley I would say is more of a boy's name (although I think there is a girl Hadley on TV at the minute?).
Ally is fine as a nn.
Isabella I really dislike for no real rational reason.
Darla is very American (and the name of my all-American, gun touting, Harley riding cousin' dachshund).

So Grace would be my choice.

Hazlenutpie · 10/02/2019 08:25

Grace is beautiful, my second choice would be Isabella.

PixieDust92 · 10/02/2019 08:52

As soon as I read Darla the little girl from Finding Nemo popped into my head 🤷🏻‍♀️

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 10/02/2019 16:45

Isabella.

I like Ally too. What about Vita?

lisamac28 · 10/02/2019 17:06

Leah is my favourite from your list.

origamiunicorn · 10/02/2019 17:07

Vada just makes me think of Darth Vader Blush

MikeUniformMike · 10/02/2019 17:08

Hadley

MaverickSnoopy · 10/02/2019 17:50

I LOVE Hadley. Swiftly followed by Grace and Vada. Vada is a great name....why didn't I think of that!

gh16 · 10/02/2019 17:57

grace is such a beautiful name, like Isabella too

Cbeebiesrehab · 10/02/2019 18:09

Vada
I went to school with a male Hadley so sounds masculine to me.

Tavannach · 10/02/2019 18:11

Hadley. Allie is too much with the other names.

Bubastes · 10/02/2019 18:14

I like Hadley best.
