Joel - strong or weak name for a boy?

When you hear Joel, what impression do you have?

I know one, I find it quite effeminate - Joely is often used!

I love it, but I love it because it sounds gentle!

I really like it, but then I know a very lovely adult Joel.

I don't know about strong or weak but I would see it as a name that could cause teasing and get a boy a hard time in the playground. So I guess that makes it a poor choice of name in my head.

It is a weak sounding name in my opinion, like Tim, Louie, Jesse etc. My dc names have been slated on here though so go with what you like ultimately.

I like but think it’s a gentle name.

I know a really nice Joel. He's tall and goodlooking.
I like the name but the downsides are it's going to get mistaken for Joe, and some people will say it as Joe-el.

It brings back memories of a little boy in my class at primary school called Joel who always had a very snotty/crusty nose.

So, for that reason, plus I don't really like the name. Both reasons are completely irrelevant to you though

If I imagine a Joel they are wet. Sorry!
