We found out yesterday that I'm expecting a girl and we were discussing names last night. 3 year old DS wants to call her The Grand Old Duke of York Grin I don't think we'll be going with that one.

DD (6) wants to call her impending little sister Rosabella, Isabella, Sophie or Gilda 😳

Changingagain · 05/02/2019 14:01

Well your DD definitely has better taste in names than my DS, not sure about Gilda though.

When I was pregnant with DC2, 3YO DS told anyone who would listen that he was having a baby sister and her name would be Poppy.

Everyone believed him so we ended up going along with it! It really does suit her though.

Elmo230885 · 05/02/2019 14:03

Poop... But my DD isn't quite two yet. Also we don't know if this baby is a boy or a girl, I'm not sure Poop would work for both!
We've got a couple of months to think about it... ... Maybe as a middle name?

DD 6 calls her baby sister Morag (after the old lady on the direct line advert) Her name is not Morag, but she answers to it Hmm

WobbleTime · 05/02/2019 14:05

My daughter would probably name her younger brother Poobum. Or similar. Not helpful sorry. She does also like Gabriella though! Gabby for short.

Myusernameismud · 05/02/2019 14:05

DD wanted her brother to be called Fox Boy. She was only 22 months Hmm

My sister wanted me to be called Pepsi when she was 11. I, at the same age, tried to convince her to call her son Cosmo Grin

Seline · 05/02/2019 14:06

DS1 wanted to call his brother and sister Thomas James and Percy after the bloody train.

7yo ds said:
Boy - Rex
Girl - Maria

My 6 year old wants her sister (due yesterday) to be Belle, Bella, Isabella, Isabelle....

ReginaPhalange89 · 05/02/2019 14:11

When I was pregnant with my second, my 4 year old wanted to name her Maisy-Linda 😂

This time she says if it's another girl she likes Emma-Lee .... I don't think that'll be used lol

My DC1 was insistent that his baby sister should be called Sarah. No idea why but she was Sarah to him until we introduced them when she was born. He got used to calling her her actual name eventually & has named one of his toys Sarah instead!

DD was 3 when I was pregnant with DC2. She insisted she was having a sister. Whilst the baby was in my tummy she wanted her to be called Ruby and when she was born she was to be called Georgia. When DS was born she said she was ok with a brother but didn't like his name. We asked her what she would call him thinking we might use it as a middle name. She never came up with anything!!

Onemoremakesthree · 05/02/2019 18:40

We’ve just found out DC3 will be a boy, DS2s suggestions so far
Jamie (his own middle name is James)
Oliver (technically his brothers first name although he’s known as Ollie)
Muhammad (great name if we were Muslim)
Dante (just no)

DS1s suggestions have been far more acceptable

Changingagain · 05/02/2019 18:41

Some of the kids on this thread have given some pretty good suggestions tbh.

Hermione Granger Surname probably!!!

3out · 05/02/2019 18:47

Our kids would have named a baby the same mane as them 😂

Brokenfurnitureandroses · 05/02/2019 18:55

When I was 5 I wanted to name my baby sister “Jelly Tots” after my favourite sweets!

Chasingsquirrels · 05/02/2019 19:00

My then 3yo wanted to call the baby "Woof", when I said no he said we could call it "his name" and when I said we couldn't do that he said he would change his name to "best friend's name". The baby ended up as "best friend's name".

Keewee27 · 05/02/2019 21:40

When asked what his brother should be called, ds1 (almost 3 at the time) always said Fireman Sam....Guess what his brother's name is?!

JaiNotJay · 05/02/2019 21:45

My sister was born when I was three. My parents asked what we should call her and I said Louise because that was the name of my wee friend at nursery. Amazingly, they went with it!

3boysandabump · 05/02/2019 21:48

We let our eldest 3 choose youngest dc name. They picked Charlie

ChubsyMcChubFace · 05/02/2019 22:49

Girls:

Daisy or Sarah; surprisingly sensible! She loves these names and always has.

Boys:

Poopoobumweewee or similar.

Better not have any more boys then Grin!

EsmeeMerlin · 05/02/2019 22:54

My ds(5) was desperate last year for a sister he wanted to make Willow. He got a brother he will sometimes stubbornly call his sister willow

Mumoftwoyoungkids · 05/02/2019 22:57

Dd actually did name Ds in that it was her suggestion we went with.

Although when we told her she cried as she liked the name I wanted!

Mean dh (who was the lead force in going for the suggestion) wouldn’t let me switch!

(He is called M a t t h e w btw.)
