Anna or Lara?

And what is your thoughts on the Ana spelling...or is it too frozen?

Look at the ONS website for official name popularity.

moredoll · 03/02/2019 04:07

Yeah according to dark greener Anna was 75th and Lara 126th.
Best website for names in England and Wales I think. Uses the ONS data.

Thank you!
Yes I can see Anna is within top 100 and Lara isn’t. Thanks for the link.

I prefer Anna

Scandaloso · 03/02/2019 04:12

I only realised recently that Frozen Anna was an Anna. The American pronunciation is odd. Maybe the Latina Ana sounds more like our Anna?

Both names are nice and both are pretty similar. I prefer Lara though.

Guiltypleasurenamenerd · 03/02/2019 04:31

Thanks moredoll, just checked that website out. So good! I wish it went further back than 1996!
It seems like Anna is on the decline though, whilst Lara has been stable throughout.

Dàrkgreener is really good. Weird name though, I always think. For a, you know, name website.

flumpybear · 03/02/2019 04:45

Alannah is a mix of both too?
Prefer Lara out of your two

Guiltypleasurenamenerd · 03/02/2019 07:39

Moredoll, yes I agree, deffo needs a new name! Sounds more like a dark and creepy video game!

Flumpybear thanks for the suggestion, but I don’t feel that Alannah has that traditional classic feel that Anna or Lara does!

I think they're both gorgeous and sound classic. Wait and see what she suits :)

confusedandcrazymother · 09/02/2019 22:17

I think both are nice

Namedrama · 09/02/2019 22:22

Both lovely names.

What about Amma?

dolphin50 · 09/02/2019 22:40

i'm annie and i have a sister called laura. kind of similar. my two girls are rose and molly.

SansaClegane · 09/02/2019 22:41

Anna.
Classic, timeless, cosmopolitan.
I know a few younger ones (all under 10) but equally some teenage ones and a couple my own age. It was also my great-grandmother's name!

DharmaInitiativeLady · 09/02/2019 22:43

I have an Anna. Such a beautiful name and I get so many comments on it. Spelling it Ana changes the pronunciation to Arna

AndItStillSaidFourOfTwo · 09/02/2019 23:01

Anna's lovely, international, simple, timeless. Not keen on Lara, or Ana for that matter.

ninalovesdragons · 09/02/2019 23:21

Lara is lovely. And I don't know anyone with the name whereas I know heaps of Anna's

gh16 · 10/02/2019 18:08

definitely lara

emilybrontescorsett · 10/02/2019 20:42
