Which name?

We've come up with a bit of a short list of baby names for our boy who is due in around 3-4 weeks. Would love to know which are people's favourites?

Understand they may not be to everyone's taste, and that's absolutely fine, more interested in which people like?

Ernest (Ernie)
Douglas (Dougie)
Edward (Eddie/Ed/Ted/Teddy)
Freddie
Barney
George (very popular?)

Thanks everyone. Middle name is likely to be James (however I don't think this goes with George?)

George and Douglas.

Shadow1234 · 25/01/2019 15:07

Ernie would be my favourite.

George - second favourite
Edward ok, So many Teds/Teddies around (dont like Eddie)
Like Joseph, but not keen on Joe/Joey
Douggie is ok
Freddie (not to my taste)
Barney - meh

What about Joshua nn Josh?

Disfordarkchocolate · 25/01/2019 15:09

I love Joseph and Douglas.

Flamingosnbears · 25/01/2019 15:17

Douglas James sounds good together...

hatethinkingofusernames · 25/01/2019 15:41

Greyhound22 · 25/01/2019 16:09

Edward James :)

Susannach · 25/01/2019 16:17

Edward, George or Joseph.

pilates · 25/01/2019 16:33

Edward James

NameChange30 · 25/01/2019 16:36

Ernest (Ernie) - dislike
Douglas (Dougie) - dislike
Edward (Eddie/Ed/Ted/Teddy) - like but popular
Freddie - like
Barney - dislike
George (very popular?) - dislike name itself plus association with royals

So Edward or Freddie!
Actually James is my favourite (as a first name)

NameChange30 · 25/01/2019 16:37

Oh I missed Joseph! Like

tammytoby · 25/01/2019 16:39

There must be SO many boys/men already called Edward James. IHope your surname is more unusual!

Mulberryandthyme · 25/01/2019 16:40

Douglas is a great name. I like Gregory too

AWishForWingsThatWork · 25/01/2019 16:44

Joseph is the best of the bunch, but I don't like your list. Not my kind of names.

17caterpillars1mouse · 25/01/2019 16:52

Ernest (Ernie)- love Ernest but fislike Ernie
Douglas (Dougie) - i know two Dougie's but not keen
Edward (Eddie/Ed/Ted/Teddy)- love Edward nn Ted. Really dislike Eddie and Teddy
Freddie - dislike
Barney - like as a shortening of Barnaby or Barnabas
George (very popular?)- ridiculously popular in our area. They are everywhere

Sophronia · 25/01/2019 19:49

Douglas or Ernest.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 25/01/2019 19:51

🤦🏻‍♀️😆

MissMoodyMoo · 25/01/2019 21:44

I love Dougie!! But being Scottish i would go for Dougal instead. I know of a Douglas James and he gets called DJay which I think it's awful

mishgs · 25/01/2019 21:47

Joseph or George for me! Wish I'd have chosen Joseph for my DS.......

Picknickers · 26/01/2019 00:17

Douglas Joseph or Joseph Douglas! I love both.

TigerQuoll · 26/01/2019 00:26

What about John - John James sounds nice and all the cousins will have J names.

John, Jacob, and Joshua

foxtiger · 28/01/2019 20:09

Edward (I like Eddie for short) or George. I agree George James is a bit hard to say though - if you did use George, would you consider George Edward or George Douglas, which flow rather nicely?
