Elliot or Linus?

We’re really struggling with boys names and have narrowed down lots of names that we liked but didn’t love down to Elliot or Linus. Which do you prefer? And opinions on both would be very welcome

@Concerneddad134 what didn't turn out too well for Billy Elliot? He's a successful ballet dancer at the end!

I have an Elliot. I love it, I think it sounds kind. And, you know, ET.

Grumpasaurus · 14/01/2019 00:06

We have an Elliot too- get loads of compliments on his name and have only met one other kid of a similar age called Elliot.

Billy Elliot became a famous and successful ballet dancer! It didn't turn out so well because he was gay?!?! What a horrible, homophonic thing to say.

If it helps, op, our top three were:

Elliot
Theodore (overuses we decided)
Sebastian

Grumpasaurus · 14/01/2019 00:08

Sorry- everyone thought he was gay, but he wasn't. Not that it should matter!

appless · 14/01/2019 00:30

Theo, Isaac and Felix are all much nicer than both Elliot and Linus!

pineapplebryanbrown · 14/01/2019 02:12

I love Felix but love Max more.

Ribbonsonabox · 14/01/2019 02:15

LOVE linus!!

jessstan2 · 14/01/2019 04:45

Eliot is nice, mean "God on high" - Eli for short, sounds cool.

Linus is a bit 'Greek myth,' sons of Apollo (though I like Linus Roache well enough and the name suits him).

Instamom · 14/01/2019 05:06

Elliot is my preferred.

Linus makes me think blanket.

Peachbubble · 14/01/2019 06:41

I like Linus. It makes me think of the actor Linus Roache. Also like Elliot and Felix.

tammytoby · 14/01/2019 06:56

I really like Linus! It's strong, easy to say/spell and cool.

I don't like Isaac as it sounds like I suck Blush

Theo is so overused and dull!

ConfessionalProfessional · 14/01/2019 06:58

Linus is great!

I know a Linus and he isn’t drippy at all. His name really suits him.

linkinperk · 14/01/2019 06:59

Linus.

I don't under the popularity of Elliott. Horrible name.

kalinkafoxtrot45 · 14/01/2019 07:07

Elliot or Theo or Isaac.

Linus is awful - makes me think of lino - and Felix isn’t great either.

sollyfromsurrey · 14/01/2019 07:09

Isaac, Elliot and Theo are way too common. I'd always avoid going for a name you are almost guaranteed to have to share with another kid in your child's class. Lesser used but still normal names are the way to go. Linus is not freaky like Bark or Thunder but also not common like Ollie, Hugo or Finn. Who the heck chooses a name knowing full well that loads of others will have the same name.

MargotLovedTom1 · 14/01/2019 07:10

I love Linus.
What about Milo?

Astronica · 14/01/2019 07:39

I much prefer Linus.

AlocAcoc · 14/01/2019 08:06

What about Lucas?

Parthenope · 14/01/2019 08:08

Much prefer Linus.

tammytoby · 14/01/2019 08:29

Linus is a great name!

I hate Issac and Theo is so boring.

Shadow1234 · 14/01/2019 08:30

Love the name Elliot - my favourite on your list.

RedDwarves · 14/01/2019 08:44

I love Linus, but I know I'm in the minority.

I like Elliot too, but Linus will take the cake every time.

MamaDane · 14/01/2019 08:52

Love Linus but would pronounce it Lee-noos rather than Lie-nuss.
If we have a boy we're probably naming him Isaac so obviously love that too.
Prefer Theodore to just Theo. Felix has always been a cat name to me Grin but it does mean lucky doesn't it? Not a bad name. Elliot is alright.
