Tongue twister?

starrier01 · 12/01/2019 21:19

I'm having a baby boy, due in March. My husband and I both love the name Joshua, but our surname is Allen. Is 'Joshua Allen' a tongue twister?

We could add a middle name that would flow better if you said the whole name, but we want to make sure that 'first name surname' on its own sounds ok. Don't want to saddle him with a tongue twister / awkward name Confused

Thoughts?

I just tried to say it and it is a bit of a tongue twister! I don’t think it’s too bad though, if you really like it then go for it.

SallyWD · 12/01/2019 22:06

I think it's fine. It's a nice name

Findingthingstough18 · 12/01/2019 22:11

I think it's fine (and nice) but I think it might accelerate the (probably inevitable anyway) move to people calling him Josh so you'd have to be ok with that

Sallygoroundthemoon · 12/01/2019 22:12

It's a lovely name and not hard to say at all. Go for it.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 12/01/2019 22:35

I think it's fine Smile

Just needs a micro pause between the two. Sounds good to me.

Disfordarkchocolate · 12/01/2019 22:38

It's fine. Joshua is a lovely name.

erja · 13/01/2019 11:36

I agree it's fine.

StarrySky7 · 13/01/2019 12:43

It's fine with your surname. But I personally don't like Joshua. It's very wet.

ColdCrumpetsandButter · 13/01/2019 13:13

I can't see/hear any tongue twister with it tbh!

moredoll · 13/01/2019 13:16

Joshua will be shortened to Josh when he's a teenager and I don't think that's the best fit with Allen.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 13/01/2019 13:19

I find it hard to say. Josh Allen is fine though.

bluesaturday · 13/01/2019 13:21

I can say it perfectly fine, use the name if you like it.

waywardfruit · 13/01/2019 13:23

I like it. Joshua was one of the names I had on my list, but I only make girls!

starrier01 · 14/01/2019 14:17

Thanks so much everyone for the replies! Mega relieved that the consensus seems to be it's not as much of a problem as we thought, so that probably tells me that we like the name enough that we should just go for it..! Smile

Only if you like Josh.
Joshua Allen will be said by many as Joshua Rallen (cf Laura Norder, Drawring etc).

firawla · 14/01/2019 14:42

I wouldn’t find that a tongue twister I think it’s fine!
