Hello
I really love the girl’s name Purdey (as in The Avengers). It feels cool and 70s and kick-ass to me.
What do you think? Does anyone know any one called Purdey?
Thanks!

Purdeys is my favourite drink if that helps?

GinIsIn · 09/01/2019 21:56

It’s a nickname for Perdita, pronounced purr-ditta so I would use the full name. It’s very pretty, but it means ‘one who is lost’, which is a bit sad.

MissLanesAmericanCousin · 09/01/2019 22:21

Do not look up Deliverence, please! The scene in question will not be able to be something you can un see or un hear.

I think the name Purdy, is sweet, innocent and very bubbly!

Perdita is also pretty too, so that can be the long version, if you want one.

Maybe, Purdita?

Good luck and Congratulations! Flowers

My daughter is at nursery with a Perdy (4yo). I’m not a massive fan, I did think it was a boy originally as I’d never heard it before.

MushroomMushroom · 09/01/2019 22:54

I like it but it is a make of shotguns

TatianaLarina · 09/01/2019 23:20

Perdita nn Perdy is pretty.

Purdey’s is my drink.

RedPandaFluff · 09/01/2019 23:28

I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet but in Ireland country folk call potatoes "purdys" - and we have purdy pudding etc.

I don't think I'd call my child "Potato" . . . 😁

Butterflycookie · 09/01/2019 23:32

101 Dalmatian for me too Blush

Astronica · 10/01/2019 09:30

I like it. Purdey like this, or Perdie as a nn for Perdita.

Thanks @Perdismum for the great info and help with pronunciation! I've added Perdita/Perdie to my list of great girls' names.

Notquiteagandt · 10/01/2019 13:57

I know 2 perdys both short for perdita. I like it. Both lovely ladies too.

Purdy with a U as PP have said reminds me of the gun brand.

CalamityJane10 · 10/01/2019 14:00

I just think of the guns and gun dogs.

We decided not to call our dog Purdey as it’s too common round here.

Peachesandcream30 · 10/01/2019 14:26

It makes me think of 1) pervey and 2) the way scary American hillbilly types in movies say "pretty'

StarrySky7 · 10/01/2019 14:46

I quite like Perdita. Perdy sounds like a nickname but you could use it as a shortening for Perdita.

brownbeauty · 10/01/2019 14:54

Name of dog in 101 Dalmatians..??

Hello, we are looking for a nanny as part of a nanny share in East London, zones 3/4. It's a full time position. To look after two one year olds. What would be a reasonable salary to pay a live-out nanny? We are planning to make an offer on a gross basis.

TatianaLarina · 10/01/2019 15:18

Why would you ask this question on a thread about a baby name?

Cjobow85 · 10/01/2019 15:26

I really like it. When we were picking our sons name we had a list of 15ish - absolutely nobody like any of them but that was fine with us. Friends and family mocked every name we told them but my husband and I like what we like.
The thing that surprised me was once he was born he kinda picked his own name. Some Names I loved while pregnant just didn’t suit him! If you love it, go for it. You’ll never please everyone!
