Cerys is my favourite on your list.
Carys is a nice alternative as well

Astronica · 04/01/2019 23:13

I would shorten it to: Ivy, Zara, Stevie, Grace, Sasha, Penelope, Mathilda, Iris, Sarah, April, Eva, Theodora (spell it this way), Cerys, Catriona, Nancy, Michaela, Victoria, Mollie, Philippa/Pippa. Still a long list, and I could shorten this to favourites, but these seem the most usable and appealing to me.

Dora - The Explorer
Dotty - What you call someone who is losing their marbles
Ada - Not as nice as Ava
Ivy - Lovely, but very "in" at the moment so might become faddy
Stevie - Works better as a nickname, but I don't like Stephanie
Bobbie - See above; traditionally short for Roberta, which I don't like
Grace - Beautiful, timeless
Marnie - Bland
Sasha - Lovely
Penelope - See Ivy, but I like it less than I like Ivy
Ottilie - Not a fan. I just see otters.
Mathilda - Miles better when spelt Matilda. The H is unnecessary. I love this name.
Iris - Not a fan. Makes me think of eyes.
Sarah - Beautiful, timeless, and underused now.
Coral - Awful.
Ruby - Quite nice, but has been obscenely popular where I live for going on 10 years now.
April - Not a fan.
Tara - Outdated.
Poppy - Too trendy/popular.
Nellie - The Elephant
Lottie - Lovely when short for Charlotte
Millie - Lovely when short for Amelia/Emilia
Martha - Love this
Eva - Not a fan; prefer Ava
Thea - Lovely, but mispronounced as "fea" by a lot of people.
Nancy - Not a fan
Theadora - Should be "Theodora". Not a fan, but it's a good way to get to Dora if that's what you want.
Cerys - Not a fan
Vitoria - Name of a coffee brand
Catriona - Not a fan.
Micheala - Should be "Michaela". Not a fan. Outdated.
Mollie - Better when spelt Molly, but I still don't like it. Prefer Polly.
Rainey - Absolutely not.
Phillipa/ Pippa - Not a fan.

Picknickers · 04/01/2019 23:37

Jaz32 · 05/01/2019 10:57

Zara is lovely. Love Eva too but there are a lot of babies called Eva/Evie

ReaganSomerset · 05/01/2019 11:05

Also, dotty means crazy where I come from, like batty or loopy.

I'd use Dorothy instead.

umpteenpinecones · 05/01/2019 11:17

Cross out all the ones that end in 'ie' (they are often diminutives and a bit cutesy) and see what you have left.

hallodarknessmyoldfriend · 05/01/2019 11:19

I like Grace, Ada and Thea

Sophronia · 05/01/2019 11:27

Sarah would be lovely. You don’t hear of many babies named Sarah anymore.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 05/01/2019 11:30

Marnie
Sasha
Nancy are my favourites.

Of your favourites I prefer Martha.

bluechameleon · 05/01/2019 11:40

I personally don't like cutesy diminutives used as full names, nor do I like boys' names used for girls. You have some lovely names on your list - I love Martha, Matilda, Philippa, Cerys.

bluechameleon · 05/01/2019 11:41

And Penelope and Ivy are also lovely.

shpoot · 05/01/2019 11:43

Well Otillie isn't a name is it? And Michaela is spelt like that.

Not sure at all about names like dotty or Nellie.

Prefer sarah or Zara

icouldbewrongicouldberight · 05/01/2019 11:43

I would choose Stevie and only Stevie.

ReaganSomerset · 05/01/2019 13:11

@shpoot. Ottilie is a name. I know one!

shpoot · 05/01/2019 14:08

Fair enough! There are so many weird names around. It's like a competition for the most unusual name

Cazastrophe · 05/01/2019 14:09

My friend has an Ivy Grace and a Nancy Rose
Both lovely names.

SleepWarrior · 05/01/2019 14:19

I like Sasha, Roberta (Bobbie), Ada, Philippa, Martha
