Boys are so hard to name... I'm sick of obsessing over names. I can't say I'm absolutely in love with either name but they are the 2 out of around 700 I've looked at that I really like! I now can't decide which I prefer? Grin

Jasper.

TatianaLarina · 03/01/2019 14:45

I had a cat called Henry. It is also a Hoover.

Totopoly · 03/01/2019 14:48

Both great names.

KirstyT11 · 11/01/2019 21:41

Love jasper... it's top on my list at the moment, I've never come across another jasper. Henry is also on the list but it's very popular.

Cazastrophe · 13/01/2019 16:27

Jasper sounds like a bit of a idiotic name. Especially if pronounced JAHSPER.
Also like a dog’s name.
Henry is much nicer.

SemperIdem · 16/01/2019 16:35

Jasper.

Jasper Tudor was Henry VII’s uncle so it’s not exactly newfangled.

pilates · 16/01/2019 16:44

Definitely Henry, strongly dislike Jasper

Jens303 · 16/01/2019 16:48

I like both but in my mind Jasper is a wasp & Henry is a hoover

CarolinenotCarolyn · 17/01/2019 05:54

Definitely Henry!

Ragaroo · 17/01/2019 06:24

Jasper is a dogs name. Felix is a cats name. Why do people do this to their children?
Henry is nicer, it's a people name too :)

RedDwarves · 17/01/2019 07:13

I have two little cousins - one Henry and one Jasper. Grin Both great names, but very popular at the moment.

I probably prefer Jasper... I prefer Harry to Henry.

WildCherryBlossom · 17/01/2019 10:26

Ragaroo Jasper is Old Testament. One of the 3 wise men. Also a gemstone. Not remotely canine to my ear. Would be terribly dull if we all named our sons Henry, not to mention confusing for teachers.

(My children are called Fido, Tibbles and Squeak)

babybean19 · 17/01/2019 12:24

My husband wants Henry but all I can think of is the bloody Hoover 😂 or the orange and lemonade drink that all the old people in the home I worked for would have!
I personally don't like it!
Jasper is cute and a bit cheeky

Doris19 · 17/01/2019 12:30

Both Jasper and Henry are on my list, I love Jasper in particular! I agree re Henry Hoover especially as my DS1 is obsessed with them! 🙈

cariadlet · 17/01/2019 16:57

Jasper is Old Testament. One of the 3 wise men

The 3 Wise Men were in the New Testament. They aren't given names in the Bible, but in tradition are named Caspar, Melchior and Balthazaar (probably not spelt like that).

Sorry, but I think Jasper's awful. To me it sounds pretentious while also making me think of a wicked uncle in a Victorian melodrama.

30 years ago I rarely came across a Henry (although I think it was more common in posher circles), but these days it's a pretty standard name - perfectly fine, nothing to get excited about but not terrible either.

toomuchsplother · 17/01/2019 17:35

I have had dogs called both Jasper and Henry!
But I think either is fine. To say they are 'dogs names' is daft when we have Centuries of humans being called both!
