Struggling with an unusual surname!

Junebug55 · 30/12/2018 21:32

I have got to the point where I have over-thought every name so much that I'm not sure I like any anymore!

I'd be interested to know what names (boy and girl options as we're keeping the gender a surprise!) you would put with the surname 'Pink'.

My ideas so far are:
Chloe
Charlotte
Ivy
Anna

Jack
Connor
Joshua
James

Help me out please! Open to suggestions Smile

I love Ivy Pink!

I teach a boy with the same surname. He has a v popular A name for boys and it sounds great!

motortroll · 30/12/2018 21:48

For boy Joshua pink sounds great!

EllenJanesthickerknickers · 30/12/2018 21:49

You need a 2 or more syllable name, so not Jack and James runs into Pink, sounds like Spink. Any of the girls names or Joshua for me.

notsosureaboutthatthough · 30/12/2018 21:52

Don’t overthink it. Is not that bad a name to match with. No different to “black” or “white”

I would avoid anything hat runs together like “jame Spink” but same with any surname.
Ivy pink is adorable. Sounds like a perfume or something 😍

BadgerWithSprouts · 30/12/2018 21:54

You need a longer first name to go with a single syllable last name, so Joshua is lovely. How about Cassandra or Caroline for a girl?

Junebug55 · 30/12/2018 22:01

Thanks all! So relieved to hear you have the same reservations as me, Jack and James were my husband's ideas and I did think they sounded too short and harsh. Also have the concern over the 'spink' issue. I always liked the name Alice but can't use it for that very reason!
I think I need to find some longer names that won't end up being shortened to one syllable nicknames (which is my concern with names like Jessica 'Jesspink'!!)
Thank you for the suggestions, I'm quite liking Jennifer and Caroline! 😊

I love all your names and they all work with Pink. Good choices!

KeepCalm · 30/12/2018 22:04

Arianna Pink

Redshoeblueshoe · 30/12/2018 22:04

Obviously a girl should be Lily

Roxybaby12 · 30/12/2018 22:13

It’s so hard choosing names! I love the names you’ve choosen but agree something a little longer.

I have two daughters.. Josephine and Evangeline you can have either name if you like! Wink both sound nice with your surname. ( Josie and Evie for short) but I’m sorry I’m not sure about boys names.
Good luck Flowers

E20mom · 30/12/2018 22:17

Definitely need more than one syllable for the first name. Apart from that just pick your favourite.

MyNameHasBeenTaken · 31/12/2018 00:02

I know a Matilda pink.

My dd is jealous. She wants to be called pink.

Charlotte Pink sounds lovely. I also love Nathaniel Pink. Fab surname and they sound like characters from a book.

I reckon whatever you go for, it’s got to be a multi-syllabic fairly ‘dignified’ first name, to pair well with the slightly frilly surname😄

Clementine19 · 31/12/2018 07:48

Sorry forgot to say, out of your boys names I think Joshua Pink sounds best.

RedDwarves · 31/12/2018 08:25

I think Charlotte Pink and Anna Pink are lovely.

Joshua Pink works too. Jack is the only one that definitely doesn't work.

I would go for something classic and safe but not too popular.
Avoid colour names and nouns. Skye, Scarlett etc.

James Pink is nice but Jack Pink is harsher sounding, Jake less so,
I'm not keen on long names like ones ending in ella, ana, anna or -el

Isabel Pink seems a bit ridiculous and Izzy Pink even worse.
Bear in mind that long names get shortened, short names lengthened and most people go through life known as Firstname Surname

Sarahandduck18 · 31/12/2018 11:25

Use the other patents surname!

Jennifer!

schopenhauer · 31/12/2018 12:40

I like that surname! My favourites are Joshua Pink and Charlotte Pink.

MikeUniformMike · 31/12/2018 15:36

It isn't that unusual a name. There's shirtmaker with the surname.

Junebug55 · 31/12/2018 18:23

MikeUniformMike - perhaps unusual is the wrong word, it's more just.. tricky! Trying to avoid alliteration, names ending in an 's' sound, one syllable names etc. I wouldn't have had these problems with my maiden name! 😊

Plenty of options there for me to look through though, thanks all! I've definitely been over thinking it recently so its a relief to know at least some of the names I like will work. :)
