Baby will have Scottish and English heritage from mum and dad but will be born and live in Wales. One syllable last name which is a noun.

Lucy Cordelia
Ivy Leonie
Nancy Madeleine
Elspeth Catriona
Rebecca Eilidh
Coralie Enfys
Tara Naomi

Some combination of:
Timothy
Nathaniel
Daniel
Dominic
Lewis
Toby
Joshua

Ideally Hugh as the middle name but can’t seem to make it flow! Potentially open to Hugh as the first name.

As you’re in Wales I’d go for Llewelyn/Llewi rather than Lewis.

Also there are some gorgeous Scottish boys names - Hamish, Hector, Angus, Fingal, Ossian, Sholto.

MikeUniformMike · 31/12/2018 14:36

Llewi - surely not. New one on me. And spell the name Llywelyn. Lewis is an acceptable name in Wales but will be said the welsh way by many.
I know several welsh people with the middle name Lewis.

Flamingosnbears · 31/12/2018 14:52

Tara Naomi is lovely stands out in your girls list as does Hugh but as a first name you need Hugh Alexander or Hugh Dominic ...

TatianaLarina · 31/12/2018 15:22

And spell the name Llywelyn.

Nope. Prefer it with an e after Llew/Lleu/Lugh.

MikeUniformMike · 31/12/2018 15:30

Hmm. Lleu and Llywelyn are not from the same origin. Llywelyn is probably from Llyw and Lleu is from light.
Llewelyn originated from Llywelyn.

Belindabauer · 31/12/2018 15:32

I like Lucy Cordelia and either Dominic or Daniel.

Smile19 · 31/12/2018 19:29

Elspeth is lovley.

DianaBlythe · 01/01/2019 00:32

I’m well aware I can’t say Llewelyn properly and I also used to work out on Lewis so it has a bit of a special place in my heart!

The whole ‘light’ angle of Llew/Lugh is debatable. Llew means lion. Lyon in France has similar etymology from the god Llew/Lugh. Llywellyn comes from Lugh-Belenus. Personally I think the spelling of Llew/Leu/Lugh/Llyw are interchangeable.

Llyw has come to mean ‘leader’ perhaps via Lugh and the medieval Llywelyn princes.

MikeUniformMike · 01/01/2019 16:08

Whatever Tat. Have you considered that you might not actually be right about everything?

TatianaLarina · 01/01/2019 16:18

Right backatcha.

autumngold6 · 01/01/2019 16:23

Lucy Cordelia or Elspeth Catriona
Nathaniel

Bemoremargo · 01/01/2019 16:24

Nancy and Elspeth are really lovely. Out of the boy names I like Nathaniel and Daniel the best but not sure if they go with Hugh.

MikeUniformMike · 01/01/2019 16:26

Get over yerself, luv.

TatianaLarina · 01/01/2019 16:29

Someone’s nose is out of joint.

snowybird1 · 01/01/2019 19:48

Lucy Cordelia - Love this.
Ivy Leonie - Bit too cutesy for my liking, especially Leonie.
Nancy Madeleine - Don't like Nancy but Madeleine is fine.
Elspeth Catriona - Lovely again.
Rebecca Eilidh - Not sure about Rebecca and middle name may be hard to pronounce.
Coralie Enfys - nn Cora? Don't mind this one but don't like the idea of naming your child rainbow.
Tara Naomi - Nice.
I despise Timothy and Lewis
Hugh is a lovely first name
Nathaniel, Dominic, Joshua and Daniel are great boy names.
I prefer Tobias over Toby

Astronica · 02/01/2019 09:50

I love Lucy Cordelia and Elspeth Catriona, and Nancy Madeleine and Rebecca Eilidh are very nice too. I like Ivy but not with Leonie - but Ivy Cordelia would be lovely, and Ivy Madeleine is nice too. I think Coralie is horrible, sorry, and Tara Naomi just seems a bit boring compared to the others.

For boys, Joshua and Daniel just seem way over-used to me and have lost any charm they may once have had. Dominic Lewis is my favourite combo - lovely! Also like Lewis Dominic, Lewis Timothy, Timothy Lewis, Toby Nathaniel.

Astronica · 02/01/2019 10:50

Sorry, forgot you said Hugh as the middle name. I think Nathaniel Hugh and Timothy Hugh sound good, and Toby Hugh works okay.

GrammerlyH · 02/01/2019 20:21

Lucy, Ivy or Coralie - definitely! Great names. Although agree with pp about having Cordelia as a first name option too.

Bamchic · 02/01/2019 20:26

This is the FIRST EVER baby names thread where I have honestly liked them all.
Congratulations
I’m not help at all.

DianaBlythe · 05/01/2019 21:23

Astronica - I think you’re right, I do like Ivy Cordelia more than Ivy Leonie! Thanks!

It’s not a huge secret I’ve got a bit of a soft spot for Anne of Green Gables. Don’t know if actually using Cordelia is going a bit far!

I wouldn't go Tara if you live in Wales to be honest as that's how a lot of us say goodbye Grin

Enfys is pronounced en-viss for those wondering. It's quite a common name here.

17caterpillars1mouse · 06/01/2019 20:46

Lucy Cordelia - beautiful. Both names were on our list recently

Ivy Leonie - dont like the flow of them together but i like them seperately

Nancy Madeleine - dislike Nancy but like Madeleine

Elspeth Catriona - love Elspeth but wont encourage it (name of my 11 day old and selfishly dont want it to becone popular lol)

Rebecca Eilidh - love Rebecca, would of seriously considered using it if it wasnt a cousins name

Coralie Enfys - Coralie is pretty though i prefer the simplicity of Coral
Tara Naomi - dislike Tara, love Naomi

I'd go with Lucy Cordelia (or Cordelia Lucy) or Rebecca Madeleine

Timothy - nice, well known but not common
Nathaniel - was on our shortlist for a boy but not a fan of Nate

Daniel - nice but i dislike the nns
Dominic - was also on our boys list
Lewis - dislike
Toby - rrally dislike which is a shame because i love Tobias
Joshua - love it

Joshua Dominic or Joshua Hugh or Dominic Joshua would be my choice
