Love them both.
Amelie is prob more common -don't know if that concerns you.
I love the name Camilla also but feel like it might still be is the associated with Camilla Parker Bowles, if that bothers you. Also love the name Camille.

Icklepup · 26/12/2018 12:06

Camilla!

RavenWings · 26/12/2018 12:09

Camilla. But I think Camille is nicer again.
Amelie is very bland and boring - blends into the hordes of Amelias.

DeepanKrispanEven · 26/12/2018 12:14

Amelie, it's lovely.

MikeUniformMike · 26/12/2018 15:59

I find Amelie borimg too, and Amelia a bit too much of a doll's name.
Camilla is lovely but there is CPB. Camille is lovely - I would pronounce it Cam-eel.
Milly is overused and the Camillas I know get called Cam.

Zippea · 26/12/2018 16:07

I have a Camilla and think it’s a lovely name. When I first named her 10 years ago I did get a few comments (though none relating to CPB!) but it seems to becoming a more popular name.

Good luck!

ZebraKid71 · 26/12/2018 16:12

Amelie to too popular imo.

Really like Camilla.

nessus · 26/12/2018 16:12

Both very beautiful. DD has a spelling variant of one of those as a middle name.

lemonface · 26/12/2018 17:08

Amelie is a cool name

PawneeParksDept · 26/12/2018 17:17

There are lots of Amelie's now those people that wanted to go Amelia and realised it was too popular.

I've literally never met or heard of a baby Camilla, and I only know of one in real life, besides Parker Bowles, an old friends wife - never met her in person

Chances are she'd be the only one in her school year, same can't be said for Amelie

Luckingfovely · 26/12/2018 17:21

Camilla is stunning, Amelie is bland with overuse now.

Sophronia · 26/12/2018 22:21

Camilla

Astronica · 27/12/2018 00:43

I like both but would choose Camilla. It's less popular and I like its stronger sounds.

nocluenoidea · 27/12/2018 10:14

I don't know why people think Amelie is so popular, it was only number 74 in the UK last year

Twillow · 27/12/2018 10:23

Camilla Parker Bowles Hmm

daisypond · 27/12/2018 12:05

Camilla, hands down. It's a much classier and stronger name.

lemonface · 27/12/2018 12:17

Camilla reminds me of a canary

lemonface · 27/12/2018 12:18

1 Amelie in our school - 500 kids

WhyOhWine · 27/12/2018 12:22

DD (13) has a friend called Camilla. I did think CPB when I first heard it but DD does not have that association at all. Having met her friend I am now able to disassociate the name from CPB (who I don't particularly have strong views on anyway).

I think it is a lovely name and it is time to reclaim it.

E20mom · 27/12/2018 12:24

Amelie

PetraRabbit · 27/12/2018 14:11

Camilla- very elegant and feminine. Amelie- very common!

dillytilly · 27/12/2018 22:01

Both gorgeous! Amalie is lovely and a break from the more popular Amelie. Camilla would be my choice though, with maybe nicknames Camille / Cam / Millie / Mila
Also agreed the CPB reference wouldn’t be an issue! What about Caroline ? Nickname Carrie/ Coco?

MikeUniformMike · 28/12/2018 08:49

Amalie is yoonique

sycamore54321 · 29/12/2018 21:45

Have you factored in that Camilla Parker-Bowles will become hugely more prominent in public life once Prince Charles becomes king? Camilla is sufficiently unusual that most people would associate it with her (unlike Catherine for example) so you are likely to get lots of “like the queen/consort/whatever title she will have?). Up to you whether you and your child would be ok with that. Personally I’d avoid unless you are an ardent royalist.

SemperIdem · 29/12/2018 23:01

Camilla.

Unless you’re French, Amelie sounds dreadful aloud.
