Not unless her surname is Yates. Class registers are organised alphabetically by surname.

I like it, OP. I would wonder if there was any French heritage and would double-check if you had chosen to use accents in either name when writing her birthday card.

I think it's lovely. And yes, class rolls are generally organised by surname. I'm not sure how that matters anyway.
