For both boy or girl. I know it seems to be more popular for girls but I think it sounds unisex

Every second girl in Spain is called Alba, extremely common here. You would be laughed out of town if you were a boy called Alba!

But only matters if you or they, ever live in Spain/work with Spaniards I suppose.

How are you saying it though the Garlic pronunciation makes it sound like it has more letters in it more ah-luh-buh than just Alba which is how I suspect a lot of people are pronouncing it in their head.

In my opinion it is too much for a Scottish child growing up in Scotland, to call them Scotland. Is the father Alex Salmond?! I think it would be different if you lived in another country and had some distant Scottish heritage. However, generally I prefer names to be established as names, to reduce the chance that it will not date well.

I live in Spain. Alba is a girls name, and a very popular one, there are always at least 2-3 in every class.

Was also going to ask how you are pronouncing. The Gaelic is pronounced Al-uh-puh - there's a Runrig song called this if you want to look on YouTube. I don't think it makes for a good name really. But it's your choice.

I like it for a girl, but it is definitely not unisex in my eyes.
