I recently descovered the name everly but found out it’s getting trendy
I do like most of the names ending in ‘verly’.
What’s your favourite?
Do you think these names will get very mainstream?

No matter what is happeneing in US, some things just don't travel

Ha. I've met a female (adult, in fact) Avery in the UK, and I know a baby girl with the name in South Africa. Since Ava is so popular, I'm not surprised it's seen as feminine.

And when has Max, short for Maxine, not been a girls' name? Pretty standard.

Flamingosnbears · 12/12/2018 16:41

None of those names will become overly popular I think your safe with them have you thought of Avery?

IdaBWells · 12/12/2018 16:43

I like Waverley as Waverley Way is a beautiful street where we live with views of the water and glorious homes. So lovely associations.

loveiseverything · 12/12/2018 23:42

Oh no please reconsider all of those names

olderthanyouthink · 13/12/2018 00:00

Aveley is a town on the M25 near Dartford, I don't think is a particularly nice place

Astronica · 13/12/2018 12:17

Everly is trendy I think. It's very popular in the US, and taking off elsewhere. Also there are several names beginning with Ev in the UK top 100 or near - so makes it seem more popular (Evelyn, Eve, Eva, Evie).

Beverley is too dated and not ready for a comeback. Averly I guess is your smoosh of Ava/Aveline/Everly/Avery. Not my taste.

The station in Edinburgh was named as a homage to Sir Walter Scott and the Waverley novels. The Scott monument is right by Waverley station. As a first name it may raise eyebrows.

GandalfsRing · 15/12/2018 14:28

I quite like Beverley. It’s the name of most of my mums friends!

Everley not so much - looks like it’s missing a letter.

Waverley is that programme with selina gomez

Avery reminds me of birds.

Anecdotally, the plumber who fitted my new boiler was called Trevor Lee, and I think Trevorley is nicer than all your suggestions Wink

BackIntoTheSun · 15/12/2018 20:59

I think is Everly is lovely

Ihuntmonsters · 16/12/2018 00:53

Beverley is the only one I recognise as a name. The others all sound like surnames to me. I know a couple of Bevs, born in the 50s or 60s, so I assume Beverley isn't quite ready for a revival yet.

moredoll · 16/12/2018 01:00

Waverley - paddle steamer or the Edinburgh train station so not that.
