Help: DISO tips for making a final name decision when *totally* indecisive

I'm having a nightmare. Got a lovely newborn boy (well he's almost two weeks now) and just can't seem to settle on a name for him.

Got a shortlist (which keeps changing) and which includes:

Callum
Joseph
Cameron
Owen
Jamie

But just can't seem to decide which one he suits / which one to go with.

has anyone been in a similar position? Got any tips for how you make your mind up?

In fog of sleep deprivation can't imagine ever making our minds up!!

Joseph. Beautiful baby Joseph Smile

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 07/12/2018 12:01

Awwwwwwwwww. He's like a little spikey dinosaur.

How about James rather than Jamie.
Although my dd had a Michael Jackson in her school. He never had any problems. Very much the opposite. Mind you he's a lot Kore famous than Jamie Bell. The kids now probably won't even know who he is. He's not particularly a house hold or street corner jangler name is he.

PennyMordauntsLadyBrain · 07/12/2018 12:26

He’s an Owen for sure!

Owen Bell is lovely.

silverliningsa · 07/12/2018 12:55

He's lovely OP.

I don't like Owen sorry. It's a bland surname to me. Joseph is so much nicer.

3kidsandmore · 07/12/2018 14:26

Totally lovely and totally Owen! Congrats x

CocoLoco87 · 07/12/2018 14:36

Joseph Smile congratulations, he's gorgeous!

MiseryLoves · 07/12/2018 14:49

He’s lovely 😊

I like Owen best from your picked names, but he really looks like a Ronnie to me (could be a nn for Cameron?)

foxtiger · 07/12/2018 16:02

My favourite is Joseph but I also really like Calum with one L (there are Calums with one L in my extended family so that always seems like the most normal form to me).

VforVloodyHell · 07/12/2018 16:09

I agree with a pp about the inevitable shortenings

Cam bell (Campbell)
Cal bell (cow bell)

I like Owen and Joseph best

PersisFord · 07/12/2018 16:12

He’s gorgeous, congratulations!

Looks like a Joseph to me, but if you told me he was Owen I would also be pleased.

Bamaluz · 07/12/2018 17:31

I like Joseph.

Cookit · 07/12/2018 18:03

Owen.

ruthietoothie · 07/12/2018 19:47

Thanks everyone for the thoughts. It feels like we yo-yo-ing between Owen and Joseph atm, and then sometimes considering Callum too (though I do worry that this is too like Liam).

I also like Jamie lots but worry that it's v like Katie and can't decide if it really suits him.

For some reason, Owen does seem to be sticking, but a bit nervous that we'll end up thinking this was an odd choice (wasn't something we thought of till after he was born...)

What about James? Can't go wrong with that.

ClashCityRocker · 07/12/2018 20:21

Looks like an Owen to me.

He's beautiful though op, and all your potential names are fine.

ellenpartridge · 07/12/2018 20:40

I love and would use Jamie and Joseph but he actually does look like an Owen which is also a lovely name

Hashbrownsandbeans · 07/12/2018 23:38

Joseph nn Joe. Perfect and timeless but also cute. Fits well with the others. 4 babies, wow, congrats!

Shadow1234 · 08/12/2018 03:08

He is gorgeous - and looks like an Owen.

ruthietoothie · 08/12/2018 10:02

@GreatDuckCookery for some reason, I'm not that keen on James. otherwise this would be good option. My mum also suggested Ewan, which is Scottish version of Owen (we're Scottish) but I like Owen better I think....

Still deliberating between Owen and Joseph but think Owen currently in the lead!!

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 08/12/2018 10:32

Ah that's a shame OP, James is a good all rounder imo.

What about Rory?

KarineAimee · 08/12/2018 10:42

Owen is a great name OP and goes beautifully with your other children’s names Smile

ruthietoothie · 08/12/2018 11:51

Thanks @KarineAimee - I'm hoping if we go with that, we won't regret it. Does seem to fit for some reason,

@greatduckcookery - I think you're right on James - it's just that I had a bad relationship with someone with that name, and I guess that's what puts me off because of the negative associations...

OP posts:
ruthietoothie · 08/12/2018 19:56

p.s... we were originally tempted by Rory, but it seems to be a name that is rapidly growing in popularity.

I'm swinging towards Owen - especially as we spent our honeymoon in Wales, so nice that it is welsh...
