Margot Alyssa or Evangeline?

We both really like Margot Evangeline but would definitely use Evangeline as the name of a second dd if we were to have one and I’m scared of regretting ‘using it up’ with dd1’s name, Alyssa would be our second choice. What do you think we should do?

I feel all 3 are very different names. I love Margot. I don't like Evangeline, but then I don't have to! However, I think Margot Evangeline goes better than with Alyssa, which feels like a bit of a curve ball. If you adore Evangeline, I'd say hang onto it and maybe reconsider mn for Margot. And pray you get a second girl to use your name!!

Personally, if it were me, I would use the two names you really like, for DD1. (Margot Evangeline). The reason being - you may have a son next time round, (and as you say, may regret not using it), and also, by the time another daughter comes along, there may be other names you are drawn to, (and not want Evangeline)

Over the years, my taste in names has changed quite a bit tbh. What I liked 3 years ago, I dont like any more IYSWIM.

At the end of the day, its your baby and your choice, only you can make that decision. Good luck.

Agree with pp. I would go with Margot Evangeline now; there's no guarantee you'll have another daughter and there might be names you prefer if you do.

I think Margot Evangeline sounds nicer . Tbh I don't really see the need for middle names so I personally wouldn't "waste" one if I thought there was a chance I'd have another daughter and want to use it as a first name

Wouldn't use Margot Evangeline, even though it sounds nicer - if you had another dd you'd be kicking yourself (though it's not guaranteed). I'd use Margot Alyssa.

I like Alyssa the best out of the three.

Evangline reminds me of Evangelical Christians.

Pimpernell · 24/11/2018 17:10

Wait, are you asking about Margot, Alyssa, and Evangline as three separate names, or Margot Alyssa (as one name combo) and Evangline?

Sorry if I'm being thick!

Sophronia · 24/11/2018 21:39

Margot Evangeline is lovely. I like Alyssa too but I don’t think it goes as well with Margot.

Elisabethh · 24/11/2018 22:14

I’m asking whether to go for Margot Evangeline or Margot Alyssa- sorry I was a bit unclear

Margot Evangeline.

No guarantee you'll have another daughter in the future, and it'd be shame never to use a name because you'd saved it for a "just in case" which never came.

Also, I am not a fan of Alyssa.
