Two middle names?

Hiphopopotamous · 20/11/2018 17:53

Our first DC has two middle names (honouring recently deceased close family names from each side) and we are expecting a DD.
I quite like Rose. Struggling with middle name but also with the thought that we should give her two middle names to match older sibling? No one else in the family to name after.

Thoughts please?

My daughter has two middle names and so I would use two for a future child as well. Absolutely love Rose and was going to suggest Alice so I definitely think you're on to a winner. Other nice names that might go: Charlotte, Eleanor, Lucy, Imogen, Florence, Juliet, Violet, Martha, Lara?

Molakai · 23/11/2018 16:20

That's great. Do you want to find a name from the other side of the family as well?

finallychangedmyusername · 23/11/2018 22:07

Ooh I love Alice!

Rose Elizabeth Alice
Rose Veronica Alice
Rose Victoria Alice
Rose Antonia Alice

My favourites are probably Rose Felicity Alice and Rose Eleanora Alice.

I have two middle names and my younger sister only has one. It's never crossed her mind to be bothered by it.

Helpmemyhairisterrible · 23/11/2018 22:10

We did my surname as a second name for both babies. Scottish.

I have a Felicity Noelle my name his surname ( born at Christmas) so I love your choice!!

Two middle names definitely.

Rose Susannah Alice?

Sauvignonblanket · 23/11/2018 22:53

Rose Clemency Alice
Rose Cynthia Alice
Rose Evangeline Alice

It feels - to me at least - like you need something a bit longer and more extravagant in the middle.

I think you should balance it with a one sylabil (why have I forgotten how to spell that) name at the end

Rose Alice Jane

thighofrelief · 24/11/2018 01:48

BTW - I'm very jealous of people with two middle names - I have NONE

thighofrelief · 24/11/2018 01:49

Because my Dad had two and hated it so refused to allow middle names whatsoever Grin

Hiphopopotamous · 25/11/2018 15:20

Most suggestions seem to be longer names - will bear that in mind. Can't think of any more family names that would be good to use and most don't have middle names either.
I love Evangeline but have picked all names based on being easy to spell/pronounce after having a difficult name to spell out all my life. Loved Sophie/Sophia as a first name for years but seems too popular and doesn't really go.

Thanks for the suggestions! Keep more coming if you can 😊

"Your maiden name? Your middle name? Your favourite book character? Your favourite woman in history?"

These are all good suggestions. I'd go with one of them. Or a name that is loosely connected to your DM and MIL's names, eg if they are Norma and Doreen you could use Nora (I think you said they're not the names but hopefully you could do similar with their actual names).

NameChange30 · 25/11/2018 15:29

Oops meant Dora.

Eeeeek2 · 26/11/2018 08:25

Have you thought about female version of a male relatives name so, Alexandra if you've got an Alexander. Harriet for Harry.

NinjaGoSaysNo · 26/11/2018 10:20

My eldest has one middle name, the other has two, it bothered my DH a bit but we were both insistent on each middle name (to honour family members who passed away between the first and second being born) so we just used both.

AhoyDelBoy · 26/11/2018 12:41

@Shadow1234 you have greats taste in names Smile my DDs middle names are Josephine Alice Grin

Astronica · 28/11/2018 04:35

Rose and Alice are both great! I like the idea of 3 names, especially if the sibling has 3.

Rose Georgette Alice
Rose Elizabeth Alice
Rose Ceridwen Alice
Rose Caroline Alice
Rose Harriet Alice
Rose Edith Alice
Rose Alice Philippa
Rose Rebecca Alice
Rose Clementine Alice

My DD has 2 middle names. Her godmother's name (obvs a very dear friend of mine) and her aunt's middle name.
Have you a friend you could honour?

Hiphopopotamous · 01/12/2018 11:08

I like the idea of honouring a good friend, would it be weird to name after a friend?
In that case, the top choice would be Lucy. Too much together?
Rose Alice Lucy
Rose Lucy Alice
The other suggestion of feminising a male name might work, then it could be Francesca?
Rose Alice Francesca
Rose Francesca Alice
It's so hard to pick!!

I actually think both of those sound lovely. I prefer both with Alice at the end. Do you have a preference?

naicepineapple · 04/12/2018 09:41

Rose Elizabeth Alice
