Artie Fartie?

Mums with Arthurs in school, does your son get called Artie Fartie? I’m so worried about this even though I love the name....

I don't have an Arthur but I know a couple - to my knowledge neither have ever been called this (although they are still quite)

With the best will in the world - you will never find a name that kids can't find a rude nickname for! Children of a certain age just call each other names! and they will find something....

For example I have a nephew called Sam - you would think a perfectly "safe" name. He's 10 and his nickname at school is Sammy Bummy! Not massively sophisticated........... He laughs it off and responds with similarly ridiculous names for his friends!

True! I think I’d feel forever guilty!

I went to primary and secondary school with an Arthur who only ever went by artie. He did get the artie fartie in primary school but he lived with it and started saying it himself, it wasn’t the end of the world for him and it probably won’t be for yours

It's probably inevitable at Primary school, but quite a few names can be teased.

Pick any name op and we can find something a 6 yo could do to ruin it.

To be honest, if kids cant make fun of your name, they will find something else to make fun of. I wore braces at 13 on top and bottom teeth and I was forever being called 'tin tin'. Most children end up with some nick name or other, wether they like it or not.

Also agree with other posters who say that any name can be made fun of by children, its just what happens these days.

I often call my DH Arty Farty. His name isn't Arthur or anything like it.

I like the name Arthur. Use it if you like it.

My ds has a name that pretty much nothing rhymes with. He’s still got a little shit in his class who delights in calling him ‘Oscar-Woscar’ (not real name). Some kids can be little buggers whatever you name your kid. I can understand not wanting to go too ‘out there’ or with a name that will obviously get them teased. With a bog standard (very nice though!) name like Arthur just use it if you like it and don’t worry about it.

My DDs nickname is Arty, never thought about this one!
