Adding wildcards to the shortlist...

We have 2 fairly standard (but lovely, I think) names on our shortlist for girls. However I've just come across the names Caspia and Hestia and have had my head turned... Haven't put them to DH yet and don't want to confuse the poor man if there's a reason we shouldn't use them. Any thoughts?

CBA2RTFT · 07/11/2018 22:40

I think they're both hideous, sorry!

Picknickers · 08/11/2018 01:35

Not good, OP tbh. Sorry!

halfwitpicker · 08/11/2018 01:42

Meh

darkparadise1 · 08/11/2018 01:45

I really like Caspia!

Surf4life · 08/11/2018 03:49

I'm not keen tbh

BikeRunSki · 08/11/2018 04:18

They’ll be constantly mistaken for Casper and Hester.

ChaosMoon · 08/11/2018 05:10

Hestia is lovely (although auto correct just tried to turn it into Jesus, which is slightly putting me off...)
Caspia, I'm not so keen on.

MissDai5y · 08/11/2018 05:15

Hestia is a lovely name.

It was my 2nd favourite but I think it sounds like a brunettes name and that wasn't likely for us.

AliCanTea · 08/11/2018 09:01

Can anyone say what it is they don't like about them?

OP posts:
Oldgranny · 08/11/2018 09:14

Caspia is a ghost and Hester Blumental. No

CBA2RTFT · 08/11/2018 09:21

OK, OP : Caspia just sounds awful and made up. I hate Caspar, too (but, oddly, like Caspian!). And the first thing I found when googling was this: "Caspia is a genus of marine snails, brackish water snails and freshwater snails with a gill and an operculum, an aquatic gastropod"

Hestia, sounds like a messy nest, or a haystack. Or hysteria. Why not Esther?

CBA2RTFT · 08/11/2018 09:22

Sorry, you did ask!

Good luck finding the perfect name Smile

AliCanTea · 08/11/2018 11:40

Thank you CBA2RTFT Grin Didn't know about the snails thing...

Hestia was the Greek goddess of hearth and home.

daisypond · 08/11/2018 13:39

I really like Hestia. As was said, Greek goddess of the home.
The slugs and snails thing would put me off Caspia.
Hester and Hesper are nice as well.

SuperstarDJ · 08/11/2018 15:10

I generally like a wild card but I think Caspia and Hestia are awful.

I love Cassia as an alternative though.

starkid · 09/11/2018 09:41

I like Hestia :) And the name Cassia as mentioned above
