Brother for Dylan and Etta

We just found out that baby girl is... a boy! Had picked out a nice strong girls name, now it’s back to the drawing board. My daughter is Etta and their cousin is Dylan, which is my absolute favorite. However (and I know this is a controversial subject on mumsnet) we won’t be using it as they will spend lots of time together. So, what boys name would I like, if I love their two names? Help!

Oh and I love Leo, but it’s also used by immediate family. I also like longer names, these just happen to be shorter ones I’ve mentioned.

What about Declan? It's similar to Dylan.

I'm not sure the likes of Kyle and Tyler are in quite the same idiom as Etta. And isn't Colton a dumpy part of Leeds?

If I were having a boy, I'd call him Humphrey.

I know at Etta, her brother is Oliver. With Etta I also like Arlo. The Dylan’s I know have brothers called Owen, William and Reuben.

ThriftyMcThrifty · 08/11/2018 22:59

Some great ideas here, thanks everyone. ricekrispie22 I like all the names you suggest but don’t love any, If you know what I mean? A couple are actually other cousins of ours as well, and one is our last name.
TotallyWipedout your comment made me laugh. I love Gus, wish I had planned this baby for August as would like it to be short for that.
Arlo is great, will pop on the long list. And I’ll keep thinking. The perfect name must be out there!

@ThriftyMcThrifty glad to amuse. Gus is just gorgeous. If I had had another boy, he would have been Augustus, irrespective of birth month.

FWIW, I ended up with the names I wanted for my DC (all of them not in the top 1,000 at the time - but not really outlandish). I gave XH the shortlist of names, but included some names which I knew he would reject (Gaylord, Wilhelmina etc) to be certain of getting my top choices.
