I am Italian and I would like the middle name to be Italian. So I have thought Nathaniel Dante West. Nathaniel shortened to Nate. I don't like "super trendy" names and Nate is not very common these days?

Still undecided though, interested to hear everyone's opinions.

Glad you're going for it, I love Nathaniel.

minimausi · 07/11/2018 12:50

It looks like a combination of Daniel and Nathan! I find it a little long, but otherwise quite nice.

Thank you everyone! You were all very helpful, now the choice is final :)

I quite like it ! Nate is cool for an older guy so I approve

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 09/11/2018 13:06

Nat West?

HeronLanyon · 09/11/2018 21:02

Oh good lord I knew the name immediately reminded me of something. Came up with Nathanial west above when all the time nat west was even more obvious !! Op hope you have read ! National Westminster bank known as Nat west.

RCohle · 10/11/2018 00:29

Jesus, I am Blushthat I didn't notice Nat West.

Shitlandpony · 10/11/2018 00:33

It was my first choice for ds but Dh refused. Don’t like Nate, seems pretentious to my ears. Nathaniel is lovely.

Shitlandpony · 10/11/2018 00:35

No! Just seen your surname, that would rule it out for me.

Monipop84 · 10/11/2018 07:34

Hey lovely ladies, thank you for the heads up. I appreciate the heads-up. HeronLanyon - thankfully he seems a cool American writer. West is quite a common surname so there are going to be famous people with that name somewhere - DH is Benjamin West, American civil war painter ;) At least it's not Kanye West! Grin

As for Nat West - I really don't want to shorten Nathaniel to Nat. It was always going to be Nate. I appreciate the banking worries but somehow I don't think it's a huge thing for me? I will have a think about it though, thank you Flowers

It’s a little naive to think that you won’t shorten it to Nat West. I’m sure you won’t, but all his mates will.

TheWildRumpyPumpus · 10/11/2018 08:11

I have one, he resolutely corrects anyone who tries to abbreviate his name in any way.

We have more issues with people calling him ‘Naffaniel’ as they seem unwilling to pronounce th correctly - drives me crazy.

TheGrassIsGreener3 · 10/11/2018 12:25

Love it.

Monipop84 · 10/11/2018 12:43

@Taffeta: you are right, but I doubt young kids have banks very much on their mind. As for older kids, they will always try and pick up on anything - for me, at school, it was having a German grandmother, go figure...

Nat is the obvious shortening of Nathaniel and it goes well with your surname. Nat West.
