Me and DH have found out were expecting a DS. The only boy's name we can think agree on is Blake. Blake is my father's middle name, the middle name of my DB who sadly past a few years back. We like James as well, but we really, really like Blake. The only problem is, DH's last name begins with a hard 'c', so saying the baby's first and last name will be a bit of a tongue twister! My last name begins with a 'h' so would go much better with Blake, but we already have a DD together with DH's last name.

Would it be okay (not too much of a tongue twister) if we call our son Blake followed by a last name begining with a hard 'C'? Any suggestions on how to include Blake in my DS name are welcome.

Totally fine. My DH has this - never an issue.

Also doesn't seem to do Luke Cage any harm.

If we pretend what the last name might be, so Blake Cox, Blake Carter, Blake Conniburgh, Blake Cardew, Blake Cotton etc, it sounds fine. The K in Blake kind of disappears a bit, so Blay Carter but with a definite short stop sound in the back of the mouth, rather than a long Blaaaaaaaay, almost like there is only one K sound running into one. When telling someone his name for the first time, I think you would likely say Blake. Carter. to be clear, but after that the two K sounds together will roll into one. I think its perfectly acceptable and a lovely name.

Sorry spelling error. Was meant to say DB passed not past.

Thank you for your help! Looks like DS name will be Blake 😆😆

Blake Carrington. If it’s good enough for Dynasty it’s good enough for your DS!

Icklepup · 06/11/2018 12:58

It's fine

Absolutely fine

It's fine! The same vowel sounds running into each other might be tricky, but you're mostly okay with a consonant - particularly a hard consonant.

My name does this and it's never caused me any issues 😊

My DH's name ends with K and his surname begins with K. His middle name also has a hard C in it. No issues!
