Want to help me make a shortlist until DH is ready to talk about it?!

My DH isn’t great with talking about things until they’re happening and as our baby isn’t due til April he’s not been very good at taking name talk seriously yet, but I’ve been thinking about it since day 1!

If it’s a girl she will be Annie after a relative, but boys names are up for discussion and the shortlist so far is:

Alexander
Callum- I have teacher relatives who claim it’s a ‘naughty’ name but I love it
Rory
Kit/Christopher- though we probably won’t because I don’t like Chris
Arthur- I love this and it’s got a family connection but it’s the only one DH has said he doesn’t like, so it’s out really

I seem to quite like Scottish names but we’re very English and don’t want to butcher them- Ruaridh/Ruari would definitely be on the list if I had a Scottish accent! Probably more traditional than not but quite open on that front, I quite like Henry too but think my relatives will find it really posh and that puts me off a bit, though I know that’s daft.

So, any opinions or suggestions welcome!

I like Henry and Alexander. Alexander is likely to be shortened though. I know two and one is Alex and one is Ally.
I do like Kit as a standalone name, not keen on Christopher.

I like Alexander, Rory and Calum. I think Rupert and Alastair are
the Scottish forms of Robert and Alexander. Are they possible?

I agree with Callum being a naughty name but obviously that's not down to the name haha. Arthur's lovely - don't give up I managed to change my partners mind at the last minute on a name he first hated! What about William? That's Scottish turned English.

Alastair could definitely go on the list, I like Ally too.

Rupert I like but can’t imagine it being a name for my child, if that makes sense. Ru is a great nickname though, part of the reason I prefer Ruaridh to Rory.

Archie’s good too but it’s the cat’s name 😁

Haha I’m hoping he will change his mind, I can imagine him being the type to come up with it himself later and claim I never suggested it!

William is actually a good call too, I’m not sure I love it as much of some of the others but it definitely has the right feel.

I love Scottish names too. Ewan, Angus, Fraser, Drew, Fergus, Logan. Congrats on your baby!

Harris instead of Henry/Harry?

Oh and if you are planning on an Annie, you might not want Alistair/Ally?

Awww Callum isn't a naughty name, my lovely step son is named Callum and he's not naughty at all! Suppose he hasn't hit the teenage years yet though....

Alexander is lovely.
I agree that Callum reminds me of little chubby,sweaty,spoiled child that was in my son's class.
