Just found out I'm having a baby girl, DH loves the name Lily but I'm not so fond and found myself swaying towards Lilia. What do people thing and is there many Lilias out there?

No. Lily is nice.

CubanHeels · 27/10/2018 13:08

It sounds like a brand of handwash or something to me, I'm afraid.

WaitrosePigeon · 27/10/2018 13:09

I love Lillia. Would use two ll’s though..

My mum suggested Lilia for DD2 (9) because it was the name of a dancer she liked on Strictly. I didn't go for it because I wasn't sure it was a real name. (And because of the tacky TV show connotations I suppose, though that particular Lilia is probably long forgotten now.) Baby naming sites seemed to think it was Latin and meant lily, but the word is actually lilium and lilia is the plural, and this bothered me. We went for a traditional name instead.

I prefer it to Lily.

Eleanor90 · 27/10/2018 14:32

Popular in Slavic countries. I like it more than Lily, but not as much as Lilian.

I have a cousin Lilia who's in her 50s so it doesn't seem made-up to me, but I don't love it. Prefer Lily or Lilian.

DreamsofJacaranda · 27/10/2018 16:41

It’s a very pretty name, I know a few.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 27/10/2018 16:56

Lilian is beautiful, That's a good suggestion.

LucyMorningStar · 27/10/2018 17:15

Very nice name imo. I know one, spelled Liliha.

LesLavandes · 28/10/2018 01:12

I live Lilia

LesLavandes · 28/10/2018 01:12

Sorry... love

Curlyshabtree · 28/10/2018 01:17

I know a lovely Lillia. Beautiful and unusual, people always comment on it positively.

Curlyshabtree · 28/10/2018 01:18

Popular in Arab countries too.

IAmBeyonceAlways · 28/10/2018 01:19

Beautiful

SpottingTheZebras · 28/10/2018 01:20

Growing up it was a brand of tampons and that is always my immediate first thought. Lily is lovely though.

YuhBasic · 28/10/2018 01:22

It makes me think of sanitary towels.

DramaAlpaca · 28/10/2018 01:22

Nope. Brand of sanitary towels when I was growing up.

Lily or Lilian are both fine.

Maccycheesefries · 28/10/2018 03:02

I know a Liliana nn Lilia

RedDwarves · 28/10/2018 05:00

Don't like it. It sounds incomplete, but frilly, at the same time.

I love Lilian/Lillian, and think Lily is very pretty, but Lilia and Liliana don't do it for me.

villainousbroodmare · 28/10/2018 05:11

I love it and the spelling you're thinking of.
