Thoughts on the name Lloyd? Is your first association the bank?

@trickandtreat laughing so much "a perfect name for a pervert" 😂😂😂

MonkeyToucher · 29/10/2018 09:35

A bit “thuggish”... although that might be because I went to school with one and he was a little shit....

Another2day · 29/10/2018 18:24

I wonder why Lloyd needs 2 Ls? Wouldn't Loyd sound the same?!

ladydickisathingapparently · 29/10/2018 18:26

I think of it as a surname to be honest.

CarryOnScreamingValenta · 29/10/2018 18:27

It's Welsh, Another.

MikeUniformMike · 29/10/2018 20:08

Spell it Loyd to make it yoonique? I don't think so. It is an anglicised version of Llwyd, which is Welsh for Grey.
Lloyd is perfectly ok as a name, very popular in Wales as a middle name. e.g. David Lloyd George, who you could google if you need to.

mimibunz · 29/10/2018 20:10

No way. If you want retro try Roger or Don.

MikeUniformMike · 29/10/2018 20:20

I know a few Lloyds of all ages and find the comments a bit off. None are thuggish or perverts.

LloydColeandtheCoconuts · 30/10/2018 06:41

Mike
Agreed

MikeUniformMike · 30/10/2018 20:02

Thanks Lloyd.

PinguineLinguine32 · 31/10/2018 07:31

I love it. Lloyd is a great name and works at any age.

trickandtreat · 31/10/2018 07:43

Oh lighten up, Mike! Twas only a bit of fun.

AvoidingDM · 31/10/2018 07:45

Another Ninjago association here.

Eminybob · 31/10/2018 07:47

My best friend dh is called Lloyd and he is very cool, and funnily enough his best friend is also called Lloyd.
So I think of it being a cool, slightly hipster name.

MrsVietor · 31/10/2018 08:06

I don't like the 'oyd' sound.

Plus I work with a raging bore woman whose son is named Lloyd, and she constantly calls him Poyd, Poydy, Poyders in her very, very many Facebook posts. So she's ruined the name for me, even if I had liked it in the first place.

KingLooieCatz · 31/10/2018 13:24

I'm thinking Lloyd Garmadon.

That's the Lego Ninjago Lloyd.

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 31/10/2018 13:25

As mentioned by the man himself upthread it makes me think of Lloyd Cole and I love Lloyd Cole. When I was little he was the coolest man alive where I was concerned.

daisypond · 31/10/2018 15:13

Like it.

2128Cl · 03/11/2018 23:42

Absolutely love Lloyd! If I ever have another son I'll definitely consider it!

Redgreencoverplant · 04/11/2018 17:31

DS has Lloyd as a middle name but we are in Wales so a very common name.

mothertobe789 · 04/11/2018 19:11

I love it. I was between Lloyd or Leo if baby was a boy. But im having a girl!

TheCraicDealer · 04/11/2018 19:16

It's a very good last name to have if you work in insurance if I'm telling someone my name for something I pre-empt the "double L" issue by spelling it as I say it, as does everyone else in my family. Uncommon as a first name here, but I know of one (unrelated) who's about 8 or so.
