My sister is looking for a name. She likes ‘clever sounding names, like Hermione and Philippa’. What others do you think fit in this category? Thank you!

Hypatia
Urania

But I think she's misguided, so I hope it's just the hormones...

Not getting the provenance of some of these but the brightest women I've known are called Lucinda, Eleanor, Rebecca and Caroline. Make of that what you will....

Can you guess which name is mine?? I’m pretty smart. Grin

BlueChampagne · 23/10/2018 11:33

Unusual criteria, but suggest Athene and Minerva.

irregularegular · 23/10/2018 11:36

I saw some info once on girls most likely to go to Oxbridge. In the 90s I think. Not the most common Oxbridge names - it was conditional on the number in the population.

Katherine
Anna
Eleanor

I can tell you that there seems to be a ridiculous number of Katherines and Kates among the academics I meet.

Otherwise - Matilda? Marie (as in Curie)?

IdblowJonSnow · 23/10/2018 11:44

Would like to add Iris and Ursula. As mentioned above, Helena and Eleanor are lovely names.

TheCag · 23/10/2018 12:00

Got to be Minerva, surely.

How can a name be clever sounding?

florafawna · 23/10/2018 12:39

Don't understand the question Confused

Shadow1234 · 23/10/2018 12:42

Potentially, someone could have the worst name in the world, and still be clever (so it doesnt make much sense)
